Instead of taking place during the show it was trilogy that starts when the show does and condenses the major stories like retelling? It would be great for bringing new people into the fandom

It’s pretty great idea, you could play through the story in the game. Would be mint actually

You start by saying "instead of being during the show." Then you immediately say the games would cover the major plot(s) of the show.
I'm confused...
Also, a new Xena game or games would not majorly expand the fandom. They would be purchased by a small subset of the fandom and not financially viable. If you're interested, there is a "new" Xena pinball game on all major consoles and pc.

An established IP has an advantage over a new IP by default. The small subset of the fandom is the advantage. But then if the game is made with care and attention to the source material, has interesting mechanics, is polished to be bug free, plays smoothly and has a great presentation and story, it will win more gamers and can actually be successful.
Take Robocop Rogue City for example. There hasn't been a major Robocop piece of media to support this, and yet the game got great reviews, the fandom was very pleased with it and the game became a success.
Also, take The Witcher for example. Before the games, The Witcher had a small fandom which was basically only in Poland. The games were received greatly from gamers all over the world and made the IP one of the biggest media IPs of the past decade. And of course the third game became one of the most successful games in the history of gaming.
If there ever was a Xena game, it would be best if the people involved were actually fans of the show. If they know gaming, and they know Xena, they'd probably do a good job with it.

I think they mean a game with levels based on actual episodes, and not a new story that might have happened in between episodes.

I am currently designing a long form campaign (and have a one shot in my back pocket) for the Xena TTRPG. If you're interested I will be looking to test game in the next 3-6 months. Pretty sure that's not the kind of game you were talking about, but hey... options

Yeeeeesss!!!

That would be cool, but I guess I would be buying a new gaming system then. 😂 Other than the R36s handheld system, I haven't bought a new one since the original Wii.... I only bought the handheld system because it had the Xena N64 and Gameboy Color games on it and it was cheaper to buy that than the systems and the games, I only mention it incase anyone is interested in wanting to play those old games.

Reminds me of across the unknown in a way. Not sure how to work it, but I love the idea.
Till then, AC: Odyssey I guess.

Maybe it could be like one or more villains gain knowledge of the future and try to stop the events of the show from happening so that’s why things happen differently
