How is living at the Wilson Apartments?

I'm a student who is going to moving to Dallas to work during the summer, and I've been looking for a short-term lease. The Wilson is one of the more affordable apartments in downtown, but I've heard really mixed reviews about it. Could anyone who's lived there before give their opinion on whether or not it'd be a good place to stay? I'd really appreciate any opinions/anecdotes.

I stayed there two summers ago. Thin floors drove me insane.

I was at 1900 Elm for 3 years a while back. I think the Wilson building was a department store like 1900 Elm. It’s right in the center of dt so there will be lots of action. Activities, events, buses, sirens, city life. There are restaurants / bars in walking distance. I think the grocery store is near SoCo on Jackson st. You would not want to walk back to the Wilson with groceries from there. There is a neighborhood Walmart right north of dt near Hall st. I got groceries / gas outside of dt. It helps to have a cart to move things into the elevator to save on trips to the car. If you like the ambiance of dt and don’t mind some minor dust then Wilson has it so does Kirby. Every apartment is different and some storage may be tight but you will have a fun experience. Uptown is diet downtown give or take.

Huge issues with their management, I’d really stear clear unless there’s been a recent change I’ve not heard about.
I do apartment locating with a focus on downtown and walkable neighborhoods - what’s your budget? Some nice options downtown (Kirby is one).

I'd like to find a 2 bedroom apartment under 2200/mo, which I know might be pretty tight. I can definitely look into The Kirby. Just out of curiosity, how do you think the quality of life is living downtown as opposed to near uptown? I'm a little worried about living downtown seeing as there seems to be no grocery stores there lol.

I am of the belief that downtown offers some of the better value, especially in your price point. There are small format grocers - and you can get groceries delivered with ease from a major supermarket.
Uptown is great don’t get me wrong, but you’ll pay more for less without a doubt - but still worth exploring so you can make an informed choice
If you want feel free to shoot me a PM, happy to help you informally or otherwise.
