Baylor Dallas or UTSW for birth?

My current provider is with BSW. While I am okay with my obygyn, I toured BSW downtown recently and the facility appears a bit dated. I also toured UTSW/Clements same day and the facility appears to be much better but surprisingly poor Google reviews ratings..
Anyone has any experience with either or any other DFW hospital you would recommend

Both of mine were born at UTSW Clements and we did have to use the NICU for two days. Since it is a teaching/research hospital, the head of NICU was amazing.

Who’s your obygyn? I tried to call them today and was told the main campus stop taking new patients unless they are high risk
Chance-Glove1589@reddit
I’m sorry for the delay! I don’t believe my OBGYN is still there - Dr Julie Lo in maternal fetal medicine (I was high risk). My youngest is 10, and the facilities seemed almost new at that time and I think they’ve kept everything up. I just really appreciated that the heads of all the areas were teaching doctors and were up to date on everything.

There are OB from other UTSW campuses that you can receive care from (Park Cities, Irving, etc.). I also delivered two months ago at UTSW and had a great experience.

You are posting this in Plano. Why would you go to Dallas to have a kid? Id do Presbyterian Plano, Baylor or even Medical City Plano before going to Dallas...

I live in Plano but my ob only delivers in BSW downtown. Have you have any experience with any of the Plano hospitals.
Suburbking@reddit
Yep, two kids at Presbyterian. We had great experience both times. Modern hospital, modern facilities. Exceptionally clean.

Second this. Very good experience. I had my second there and the first in a different state. Presbyterian was more modern, but I have to say that it felt almost the same. Beside the food. The food was amazing at the Presbyterian.

Do you have any obygyn recommendations? Thanks!

Any one of them will be wonderful...

Thanks

Ive also worked with these docs. Petrovski and Allen are amazing! You could go wrong with any of them though.

Big real hospital > sketchy suburban franchise hospital

Medical City Plano 😬

Texas Health Frisco has great L&D rooms. Super new and modern.

I delivered my first two and plan to deliver my third at BSW downtown. Idk about what the facilities look like compared to other places but the physicians, nurses and support staff are top tier. They work so hard to make sure you feel comfortable and supported. I planned for an epidural and the anesthesiologist was there in less than 10 min after I requested it both times!

Thanks. Do you remember how long they let you stay in hospital after the baby is born.

I’ve personally heard incredible things about Texas Health Presbyterian Allen
dumb_username_69@reddit
I’ve heard great things about both hospitals you mentioned.
I personally delivered at Texas Health Presbyterian in Dallas at 23 weeks and baby was in the NICU for 4.5 months. I had excellent care when I was admitted to antepartum from week 21-23 and our NICU experience was incredible. We have a happy and healthy 15 month old now! So grateful for the OB & NICU teams there.

I’m so glad to hear your little one is thriving!

I'm not familiar with either but when I was down to 2 choices with my OB, I discovered 1 hospital ( Baylor Frisco) was a level 2 NICU while Texas Health Plano was a level 4. That made my decision for me.
Butterscotchmochaaa@reddit (OP)
They are both level 4 I think
Muted_Chard_139@reddit
Baylor Frisco is a level 2. Baylor downtown is a level 4. THR Plano is a 4. (This might be my line of work).

Baylor Frisco

I delivered at bsw Dallas and thr Dallas (presby) and found bsw to be slightly more dated but it was FINE. My husband had better sleep bc there was a bigger couch but both were great.

I just delivered at BUMC and had a 10/10 fantastic experience - all of the nurses and doctors were truly top notch and I felt I received fantastic care (and I had preeclampsia so needed a bit extra attention).
I do agree that the facilities are dated, but none of this affected my delivery or postpartum stay. To contrast, i delivered my first at a newer, “flashier” hospital in a different state, and felt that the care I received at Baylor was a lot better and would choose them again in a heartbeat.

Thanks for your insight!

Baylor Dallas hands down. The drive sucks but it’s got the best NICU in the area. 10/10 recommend and if we end up with another I’d absolutely go here again.

I toured it recently. The L&D floor seems a bit dated, and had a funny smell when we were there because the AC wasn’t functioning.. how’s your experience there?
nurserainbowsparkle@reddit
I used to work at BuMC in Women’s Services and would definitely recommend. Who’s your OBGYN? They just remodeled and added 3 new birthing suites. The nurses are top notch on all the units that would affect you. Good luck!!

Park Lane obygyn. Have you heard of them.. my experience was okay with them until recently my doc failed to mention something in my ultrasound report that I thought was odd so now I am having second thoughts
nurserainbowsparkle@reddit
Yes, Park Lane docs are great! I’m sorry you had a bad experience. Without details, I can’t say if it’s really a bad thing that they didn’t mention it or maybe just a no big deal thing they didn’t explain. Feel free to DM me if you’d like! Happy to help.

Will do, thank you!😊

UTSW is outstanding.
