Actually, no. I've done some work in the autonomous vehicles sector, so I pay attention to the details of it.
Tesla's system is the worst, and it's the worst because, of course, Musk himself decided that he would choose what system architecture to use, chose poorly, and refuses to course-correct. Because, you know, he's a genius.
Waymo's system is (pardon me) way better -- in fact, they're pioneering a genuinely groundbreaking new model now. And they release good safety data, which shows huge safety improvements as compared to human drivers (90% reduction in injury accidents, and zero fatalities, over something like 250 million miles). Tesla doesn't release meaningful safety data, and implied data from public reporting suggests that their 'robotaxis' might actually be less safe than human drivers.
I guess it's worth giving the ketamine addict billionaire your money to have some car pretend to be autonomous instead of, like, renting a cab. Hope he sees this king.
Are all of your purchases reliant on the moral standing of the executive leadership of the company? If so would love to see how you are able to get by day to day. Also, would be interested to see your proof that they are being remotely driven by someone in a third world country.
This is one instance, I never said every purchase can be moral, but you're unwilling to accept one example. Why? Why are you invested in preventing light criticism of Tesla?
Ok but if I'm negligent in my driving, and run someone over and kill them I am held responsible, including possibly going to jail. When a robotaxi eventually kills someone where is that responsibility shift?
I watched the immigrant, nepo-baby, pee pee pants drug addict, breeding fetishist CEO of that car company, who is well known for posting daily racist screeds on the social media platform he bought to manipulate a US election, throw not one but two Sieg Heils on live television. At a pretty important event. This is considered offensive in my culture.
That’s a big part of why it’s gross to me, personally.
The technology is still very faulty and prone to accidents. It's basically being tested on the public and lots of people have gotten hurt.
It takes jobs away from a taxis or rideshare contractors.
It's only currently cheap due to heaps of investor money. It will get way more expensive once the company feels it has a solid strangle hold on the industry and the investors start demanding returns.
It's not a decent solution to traffic by any means, yet billions of dollars are going to the industry when simpler more effective solutions exist.
The information to train the Robotaxi was largely taken by unethical means that are invasive to peoples privacy.
You’re emotionally invested into something you should be. It’s a service being offered. Nothing more or less. Why you have so much hate directed towards a service is wild. Focus on more important things.
i am blind, and used to be in a thrupple. Got in the uber car and they were asking me normal questions, and I menchened my thrupple. Bad idea. the driver was like. OOO. Now i know why your blind, all that sinning, or something along them lines.
Seems there aren't enough regular ride share app users to appreciate your comment. As someone who had to take Uber/Lyft frequently for work.
- Regular Uber: Crack head driver in some beat up shit heap. Always questioned if I'd arrive alive.
- Uber Business: Late model Chevy Malibu with the gospel cranked to 11. Bonus points if you open the trunk to put your luggage in and its filled with kids crap.
- Uber Black: 10 year old Chevy Tahoe. Rattles so much, it feels like you're in a maraca. Drivers are professional.
Want to skip the ride share app and take a taxi? Hop aboard the 20 year old Dodge Caravan and pay 5x the cost!

oh, gross

Statistically a better driver than you, and everyone else in Dallas for that matter.

So yeah, I won't be taking any 'robotaxis.'

You seem upset. Why?

What have we become if we can no longer feign rage on Reddit?

Smarter, probably

The company’s insurance, most likely. Shit I’d rather be hit by one of these things than your average driver who doesn’t even have insurance lol

What’s gross about it?

Since it is a Tesla I am guessing.
_GraceAntler_@reddit
why is this "gross" ?
remembertapes@reddit
there are no truly autonomous cars, this thing is getting piloted by someone in the third world making pennies a day.
_GraceAntler_@reddit
I don't think you know what 3rd world actually means and people in other countries still have to work.
Your white savior shit isn't actually helpful here.
remembertapes@reddit
white savior? What about white knighting to protect Elon's honor? The car is a scam, you just have a way lower paid driver than if you hired a guy
