Does anyone get real bad ADHD with slow moving SaaS portals?

Between waiting for Purview or Entra ID to load things I can get such bad ADHD that by the time something loads or goes live I can forget what I was even doing. Add application specific SaaS solutions that are the same, varonis, Palo SSPM, I feel like so much of my say is waiting for something to load and see if actually did the thing.
How do you all stay focused?
Morkai@reddit
The word you're looking for is impatient.
TheJesusGuy@reddit
No, he gets a neurological condition from logging in to cloud portals, clearly.

My morning routine is opening \~10 saved tabs to do my daily Entra checks as efficiently as possible on my PAW.
While tabs are loading, I'm on my main workstation checking email. Sometimes I'll look back and see tab #1 is ready for action but when I click into it to do action... more delay, so I go back to checking email.
It's far from perfect, I lose my train of thought sometimes but I know I need to get back to those 10 tabs each morning and don't close them until I do.
Of course that doesn't help the mid day purview search but again I leave it opened on my PAW and usually have other things to work on my main workstation and leaving it opened at least I don't lose sight of waiting without staring at it.
Might be one of the pluses to having separate priv access workstation being able to start task and let it sit waiting while it finishes while still doing something else on main laptop.

SaaS: Slow as a Service...
michivideos@reddit
You will need to have PaaS
I'll see myself out

Not neccesarily. It's why I told Microsoft I would not do MDO though, in favor of Check Point HEC which gives us eyes on emails in fractions compared to the slow MS portals.
BatemansChainsaw@reddit
Go to the cloud, they said.
It'll be easy, they said.
I'd rather be sailing...

1000%. And why is it that every GUI operation on a website means loading the entire page like it's 2008? What happened to WebAssembly?
"Oh but it's AJAXified so you see everything as it loads!"
Yes, including links and buttons which jump around while I'm chasing them with my mouse trying to click on them because I'm certainly not waiting 80 seconds for the rest of the page to load.
NoPossibility4178@reddit
My favorite UI design is me scrolling down a list and it being blank because it has to load the elements of the list, meanwhile it's unloading the others you don't see so if you have to scroll up it's blank again and needs to reload.
ender-_@reddit
Software is always getting slower faster than the computers are getting faster. Remember when you'd click something in Windows, and get a response immediately, on hardware that was several orders of magnitude slower?
Valkeyere@reddit
JFC I hate pages that load random elements and then I go to click a button, only to have it jump down two inches and I click something else entirely, have to rhen go back and wait all over again.
I could forgive it if this was a small company website but this is basically all major vendors/tools we interact with.
How about you half your marketing budget and put effort into the fucking webpages. I dont need or want it to look super swanky. I need it to work and work fast.
And once its good, fucking leave it alone stop redoing it every 6 months to push a new tool I dont need.
QuietlyJudgingYouu@reddit
It's the current reason why I am scrolling on Reddit.
Geminii27@reddit
Ah, portals. Always make sure to have actual real work you can be doing while waiting for each page to load.
Exact-Account-1025@reddit
Reddit is there for that.
labalag@reddit
True, click on saasportal, scroll reddit for 10 minutes. Rinse and repeat.
moonwork@reddit
This thread makes me feel so seen. 🥲
segagamer@reddit
I have this issue doing anything on Google Cloud Console lol
rickAUS@reddit
Our company uses CIPP and i could cry at how painful it is to use sometimes. So glad I am escaping the MSP space soon. So many of the tools we use are just painfully slow
OneSeaworthiness7768@reddit
Spoken like someone that doesn’t actually have ADHD. “Guys I’m getting so adhd right now 🤪”
ddmf@reddit
I was going to ask if it's suddenly become an adjective rather than something so disabling purely because of the randomness of the dysfunction.
OneSeaworthiness7768@reddit
It’s like people saying “I’m so OCD.”
There isn’t a certain point in my day where I “get adhd.” It affects just about my every waking moment. And waiting a few seconds for a page to load is pretty far down on the list of my struggles with it.
mirrax@reddit
"Getting ADHD" apparently the new "having OCD"...
WendoNZ@reddit
Entra PIM, not only is it slow, it then wastes 5 more seconds at the end because you obviously don't value your time
awful_at_internet@reddit
I pick up more responsibilities so I can A) Learn and B) Have something to do while this slow ass shit looooooooooooads
TheDarkRedFox@reddit
I take little mini naps while waiting for super slow pages to load fully it’s great. Just totally zone out in to space for a solid 20-30 seconds then click the next thing and do it all again
grimbotronic@reddit
You thought it would be funny, turns out it's just ableist.
J_de_Silentio@reddit
It used to take 3-5 minutes to boot into Windows...

Yes. This right here is the solution, at least for common tasks. Because yes OP, I have this problem. But my scripts are fast.

If you add up all the infrastructure performance-related delays that SaaS introduces, it takes about a year to complete something you could have done in 3 months on prem.
kremlingrasso@reddit
Especially if you have to use API. We literally just recreate the on prem DB backend with API pulls so we can work with our fucking data like we supposed to.
iB83gbRo@reddit
I feel attacked! I was waiting for EAC to load figured I hop on over to reddit for a quick check...
gokarrt@reddit
Entra ID not letting you open multiple tabs triggers me badly
Frothyleet@reddit
Sometimes I have to take like 3 swings at getting into a portal to do something, yes, because I tab away while waiting for authentication or workflows, then by the time I remember, the portal has timed out my session.
And then we're bumping into my end of day reminder to complete and send my email drafts, and I have to push it to the next day.

zendesk admin takes ~12s a page. i batch macro edits to monday mornings now. waiting once a week beats waiting twenty times a day.
DiogenicSearch@reddit
Rage inducing, tbh
department_g33k@reddit
When I saw your headline, Purview was the first thing that came to mind. It's just slow enough that no matter how hard I try to stay focused, it's so slow that I squirrel off to another task at like EVERY step.
CeC-P@reddit
In adults and when mild, it's usually mind over matter self-discipline and it gets easier to focus every time you train your brain to do so. Also, cut out caffeine, get 8 hours of sleep, and for some people ultra low dose CBD worked.
thecravenone@reddit
I like to get a bunch of their team on a call to walk me through a thing then while you're waiting several minutes for a thing to load, refuse to let them change the subject.
WorkJeff@reddit
I don't forget per se, but I'll get distracted and move on to something else.

Sophos Central is so fucking slow. Sometimes I forget about it in the time it loads.
GlassPerformance8754@reddit
I more start saying very mean things about the stingy jack-@$$ that doesn't know how to properly provision his cloud resources.
One of the things I really like about having a private cloud, no bean counter jerks telling me to cut cores to servers.
Master-IT-All@reddit
Yes. Portal delay is the number 1 reason for reddit visits.
JwCS8pjrh3QBWfL@reddit
Pure spite and force of will. I know that if I click away, I'm probably not clicking back and this thing isn't going to get done. Abnormal's portal sometimes takes upwards of 30s for certain admin pages to load. It's infuriating.
cruel-ko@reddit

All the time… basically every time I have to Duo into something, which is getting more and more common since even my switches and routers are getting stuck behind duo.
