Dont have the time to read in Serbia, have to make cables for Germans six days of week
mrwhite14X@reddit
Lack of wealth, past wars, corruption, and treacherous governments are our problems...The low numbers of people that read a book(there is no timeframe here) it's a direct result of the previously mentioned.
People tend not to read books when they have to work all day to survive.
Moonbeam1184@reddit
mapporncirclejerk are so boring fake ass results. Why do we even care about this fake shit?
Specialist-Sea-638@reddit
every book read is a grill/barbecue lost opportunity :)
morbihann@reddit
This year or in general ?
Either way, it is kind of bleak.
Gundi_22@reddit
The amount of books they made us read during the summer holidays in Bulgaria makes me think this is complete bs.
Circles-of-the-World@reddit
Source: I made it the fuck up. Literally who has NEVER read a book in their lives? Back at school they forced us to read books and write commentary on them. And as an adult you are bound to read at least one shitty novel you were curious about.
levenspiel_s@reddit
Hey, don't underestimate the abhorence of people to knowledge.
Circles-of-the-World@reddit
I wouldn't call a shitty Warhammer 40k novel as "knowledge" but even that counts xD.
Neverlast0@reddit
Fuck reading
EdgeCraftOS@reddit
I am a proud member of the Greek 43% (has read 1 book)
da_real007n7@reddit
I'm on of the 30% 🥹

Njegoš watching Serbs and Montenegrins argue over his ethnicity while they’re both illiterate and have never read his works

Fast_Leg_616@reddit
Sad but true 🤷🏻♀️
Winter-Speech978@reddit
Definitely not true
NegotiationSweet5082@reddit
Not the cause, but the result
levenspiel_s@reddit
Disagree. No one or nothing should have to convince me to read a book.
defnotachicken@reddit
And why do you think that? Every decision we make and every thought we have is a result of something. Deciding to read a book is also result of how you've raised, where you've raised, what kind of people were in your life, what kind of shows/media you've been exposed etc. .
But I agree in one point, not reading books is also the reason for the current situation, it is like Ouroboros.
Janosh_Poha@reddit
This wouldn't surprise me... I remember seeing data once from the mid 1970s of average IQ across European countries and Yugoslavia actually had one of the highest... and it wasn't because they polled only Slovenes or Croats. It was a well averaged mix of the different republics. However, now most of the former Yugoslav republics have some of the lowest IQs in Europe. Reading is important
Original-Hall-9832@reddit
Nice to see in this made-up map, that no one has read a book in North Macedonia 😂
Sea_Gap_6569@reddit
Chill bro, we’re still better than England 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
elektricniorgazam@reddit
In their life, or...?
JumpApprehensive9949@reddit (OP)
Yes
Cefalopodul@reddit
Question was have you read a book in 2021.
smurfk@reddit
What does it constitute "a book"? I've read a toaster brochure and half of the Ibuprofen prospect. Can I consider those a book?
Sea_Gap_6569@reddit
I read a few cosmology papers, do they count?
YourFath3r@reddit
Hahahhahahahahahhaha aaaaaa hahahahahhahahahhahahahahahahhahhhahahahahha ahahahhahahahahaha hhhaaahahahahahhaha so funny. Ahahahhahahahahaha aahahahahahahahhahahahah
peev22@reddit
What about “have you read a couple of chapters of a book”?
Asking for a friend?
tardoos@reddit
It's a circlejerk subreddit. The original asked something like "have your read a book in the last year"
Cefalopodul@reddit
Past year.
GimiderKing@reddit
The quran/bible not counting ?
domets@reddit
Is this the source or the simptom?

Another one in the bag for r/portugalcykablyat
YourNormaMinecrafter@reddit
Books for fun or do schooltexts count in as well...? Cause that would explain a lot.
JumpApprehensive9949@reddit (OP)
I dont think you can read school textbooks . They are to study 🤷♂️
levenspiel_s@reddit
To be frank, I have read several school books from cover to cover (engineering texts, usually)
YourNormaMinecrafter@reddit
Suure... The books start dictating theirselves..
amazingamy19@reddit
I prefer audiobooks
levenspiel_s@reddit
This is an interesting topic. Some people enjoy it, while some others (like me) cannot stay focused on an audiobook for more than 5 seconds. Tried many times, doesn't work. It's weird.
JumpApprehensive9949@reddit (OP)
Suprisingly i am not patient enough to listen. Would rather read myself and skip what i don’t care about
amazingamy19@reddit
I listen mostly when getting ready for work, and on my way there.
It makes my mornings less depressing.
Prestigious-Job-9825@reddit
It's from a circlejerk sub. The map's original label could be anything
BillGates121193@reddit
Mi guess when it’s cold outside you read a book
Hareholeowner@reddit
I love reading
Redditater_3003@reddit
Balkans read encyclopedias and reference books that don't need to be read from start to finish.
Right_Ad_3782@reddit
One “famous” person in Romania once said: “A read book is a wasted barbecue.”
crivycouriac@reddit
No
RichDream7777@reddit
Pretty accurate
Big-Vegetable4550@reddit
Gotta be ‘in the last year’. But look at the correlation with cold, bleak winters! All the Nordics, plus Switzerland are high. No idea what’s going on with Luxemburg though… And too bad for Croatia they don’t break out the regions with Bura!
Aristo95@reddit
It also matters which book(s)
Citaku357@reddit
This explains a lot lol
_Caligulean_@reddit
Who needs books when you have schizo podcasts?
