1) this thing is silly bright. 2) the mrad moa flip flop is not that bad depending on your goal - battle zero? Good to go. 3) sub tension BDC is within a minute of kill zone with a lot of combos. 11.5” 55gr for one example is pretty stinking close. 4) 308 holds are even close with 147gr - proved it out to 400 yards on my scar 17 where it currently lives. However, I’m moving it to my 16s. 5) mount - 1.54” height. Not mentioned anywhere. Needed info for thermal boys. 6) mount - not compatible with any other attachments for red dots or lrf. Be warned.

How's the illumination towards the edges of the eye box? I have a Leupold Mk6 1-6x with diffractive illumination that blinks out if your eye is slightly off-center.

In reality if I’m way off the eyebox the illum does disappear. . . But that’s when I’m black boxed on it anyway and it doesn’t matter.

Do you have any experience with the more common Razor 1-6 models with the more basic MIL/MOA/JM-1 reticles, and how that compares to this? I've got a JM-1, but wondering if it's worth trying to trade it out for this one. On paper, seems like the EBR-7F is a more full-featured reticle.

I haven’t unfortunately. I use the BDC moa reticle on the 1-10 and wish I had gone mil just because it feels more limited in my use case in that scope. . .
Think the only reason for you to make the jump would be if you like the reticle better and if you want the brighter illumination (truly red dot bright)

It's going on a 14.5 M4A1, so in theory the reticle should be a good match... The JM-1 is a very simple BDC reticle, but the EBR-7F adds moving target holds, wind holds, and ranging features that seem like they'd be nice to have. I'd already consider the normal Razor to be very bright, but it sounds like this one gets even brighter.

Yeah, your use case would be solid. Just keep in mind it’s for some pissing hot ammo so 14.5 aside doesn’t mean you’ll be perfect. But on steel? Yes

Combat accuracy is the goal... I don't have good ballistics info for the setup at this point so it's hard to say for sure.
But looking at subtension diagrams, if my MO>MIL math is correct, the JM-1 BDC holds are actually a bit higher than the subtensions for the EBR-7F. Most likely because the JM-1 is designed for yards instead of meters, and for a 16" barrel rather than a 14.5". So the lower/longer subtensions on the EBR-7F might actually be closer to what I'd get out of the 14.5 with 62gr 556.

I picked one of these up about 8 months ago because I had a $200 europtic credit, a 14” naked AR and I love the other 2-e I’ve had for a few years with the JM-1. The reticle and dial flip/flip is not nearly as terrible it sounds. I wanted it for a battle zero out to 400 yards max so it’s perfectly ok for that. The glass is good, the warranty is legendary, the lume is stupid bright, but it’s fine. If this were $800 I’d buy 5 of them.

Appreciate your thoughts. I have a JM-1 currently on a DD M4A1 14.5 that I'm just finishing getting put together. Recently saw the EBR-7F and thought that it seemed like a much more full-featured reticle, at least in theory. Was debating trying to trade it out.

The turret / reticle mismatch seems so dumb, but this explanation makes sense. Plus, you won't be dialing elevation or windage with a SFP 1-6x, you'll be using holdovers, which the reticle is designed for.
