People in their 30s/40s, do you think your physical peak has passed?

Elsewhere in reddit-land I recently commented that as someone in my mid-30s, I'm increasingly tired/achy after activity levels that wouldn't have got me like that before, and feel like my best years are behind me physically. Someone said don't be ridiculous, people are still winning Olympic medals and peaking in sports like marathon running in their 30s. But then recently I went to a wedding and all my friends (also in 30s and in good shape to look at) were talking about their bad back, physio appointments, can't drink tonight as I'm on a new medication for my migraines, etc. So are people in their 30s/40s being dramatic when they say "ooh my knees, ooh I can't get out of a chair anymore without making that noise, ooh I can't stay up past 10pm anymore"? Or does your body actually start going downhill in your 30s/40s? Haha
