I'm stood in the same place all day at work. How do I pass the time?

I'm currently on crowd control, making sure people don't walk the wrong way and get hit in the head while the scaffolders are working.

I've got WiFi, 80% in my phone, and all the free time in the world. The only restriction is that I'm stood around all day in the same place.

I'll probably go for my bait at around 1, then spend the rest of the afternoon here.

How would you pass the time?

The scaffolders haven't started yet, it's typically about half 12/1. For right now, there's nothing happening or no need to worry.

My friend met a girl he was seeing on runscape. He was doing some work in her home town and was at a huge trading place and the topic of conversation came up and she said she lived where he was working. Turns out she was massive alcoholic living with her parents and she was PSYCHO but the sex was amazing. Very normal in the North East to refer to food as "bait", particularly for lunch during a work day. "Having your bait" or "getting bait" etc

When I worked construction we’d start at 7am and have bait about 10. Bait was basically a cigarette/coffee/snack break for about 15 minutes. But not a full ‘lunch’ break

Do something that helps you stay alert. Set yourself a competition to find the cutest dog, or silliest hat, or something similar. Try converting passing number plates to the NATO phonetic alphabet. Pretend you're at the middle of an invisible forcefield and anyone who gets too close either gets zapped or advised not to blunder into a pole. See how long you can balance on one leg or hold your breath.

Is there somthing you want to learn. Anything at all. Is there a course you would like to try.. a language. No matter how big or small . Ask co pilot to teach you with a quiz or test and explain the answers. Its a good way to see if the work is too much or if you get a grip of it first

Boredom is a gift if harnessed properly. Take the time to exercise your imagination!

See if you can come up with a story about a passer-by, come up with an alternate ending to a film you hated, wonder about a question you would normally just google, win a recent argument retrospectively, plan a letter or text to send to a loved one later.

Do all this and more, but please keep your eye on the job so no one gets bonked by some scaffolding, obviously...!
