Critical Kernel Power 41 after dual boot Linux + Windows tried everything, still crashing randomly
Hey everyone, I’m honestly stuck and could really use some help.
So I originally dual booted Linux and Windows on the same SSD, and ever since then I’ve been having serious crashing issues. I’ve since completely removed Linux and done a clean install of Windows, but the problem is still happening.
The main error I get is Critical Kernel Power 41, and right before that I always see stornvme and VOLMGR errors in Event Viewer.
Here’s what I’ve already tried:
- Clean install of Windows (fully wiped drive)
- Removed Linux entirely
- Ran
sfc /scannow - Used
/bootreccommands in recovery mode - Updated all drivers (including GPU, chipset, etc.)
- Updated BIOS to latest version
- Reseated SSD
- Checked all internal connections (everything is plugged in properly)
- Temps are completely fine (nothing overheating)
The crashes are super random:
- Sometimes within minutes of turning the PC on
- Sometimes after hours of gaming or just idling
- No consistent trigger at all
This NEVER happened before I dual booted, which is why I feel like something got messed up at a deeper level, but I have no idea what else to try.
My specs:
- CPU: Ryzen 7 7700X
- GPU: RTX 4070
- RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5 32GB
- Motherboard: MSI B650 Gaming Plus
- SSD: WD_Black SN770 2TB
