N190PA - Gulfstream G-1159A (G-III) - Phoenix Air - KJAN - 4-26-2026 - It's been some time since I've seen a G-III! I believe these have become quite rare nowadays as well. I don't think I've caught one with this type of fwd cargo door either! Arriving from Anchorage with a patient on board

These things were loud as hell without hush kits installed.

They're still loud as hell even with a hush kit installed. The fastest way to get a fine in European airspace, with their noise restrictions, is to do anything in a G-III. 😂

They used to have the contract to fly us to work in a G1.

NASA has 2 GIII’s, N802NA and N808NA and a GIV with a forward cargo door N814NA based out of Armstrong Flight Research Center!

Seeing a G-III still active in 2026 is awesome, but one with the cargo door? That’s a unicorn right there. Thanks for sharing!

Royal Danish Air Force had them with cargo door.
I think they more or less gave them away when they sold them.

That makes so much sense! I knew these cargo-door G-IIIs were rare, but I didn't know the Danish connection. Explains why they're still such a unique sight today. Thanks for the info!

They used them to operate in and out of gravel runways in Greenland, in support of the stations there.
They had 3, but lost one in an accident on the Faroe Islands. The 2 last were sold when they changed to the CL60.
So it's not like they had many to begin with.
I believe some of the issue when they were sold, was they were ex military, so the paperwork to get onto civilian registry was rather expensive. Or that's what I heard at the time?
