Is the Dueck Defense RBU supposed to tilt like this?

It might be difficult to tell on camera but I’m not sure if it’s just me or the mount but it seems like it has a slight curve or it’s tilting upwards a tad. The front seems like it’s raised above the rear.
Specialist-Box-9711@reddit
I would not personally trust that to not eventually cantilever its way out of the rear sight dovetail under recoil. This is why MOS glocks are a thing and the rest of us permanently alter our slides with optic cuts.

Well, I guess that’s $180 total down the drain for this mount and to have it swapped with the rear sight.
Lawrence_skywalker@reddit
That mount is 180? Wtf. It's 100 to mill a slide
eddiespaghettio@reddit (OP)
Mount was $160. Having a gunsmith swap the sights (I don’t own a sight pusher) was another $20. Totaling out to $180.
Specialist-Box-9711@reddit
Goddamn I’ve paid less than that for scalarworks mounts. I feel ripped off and I didn’t even buy it.

Everywhere I asked kept telling me Dueck Defense was the best dovetail mount so that’s what I went with.
cleveraccountname13@reddit
That sucks. Didn't anyone tell you a dovetail mount was a bad idea?
Either way I would tell Dueck that their mount is defective. Either your gun was made wrong or their mount is made wrong. It is far more likely their mount is wrong.
Send them that picture
The problem is that (assuming that they admit fault), they will probably want to fix the problem by sending you a new slide. Even one that is within spec is a bad idea. The force exerted on the optic during firing is alot. Every time the gun fires the optic will be prying on the dovetail cut like a lever. That is bad.
The good news is wherever you send it for an optic cut will probably be willing to take that plate off for free (definitely confirm that ahead of time though).

I was only ever told that finding the dot might be tricky because of the height over bore.
cleveraccountname13@reddit
Do not ever take any advice regarding firearms or anything related from that person again.
The idea of using a dovetail mounted system for an optic on a Glock is so ridiculous that i have never even heard of it, out of the many thousands of posts regarding firearms in general and Glocks specifically that I have read. It is uniquely bad advice.
eddiespaghettio@reddit (OP)
Yea I’ll just buy an optics cut slide or a Gen 5.
Ok_Crab_3522@reddit
did they not also tell you that dovetail mounts are dumb and you shouldn't buy one? Or did you just ignore that particular advice?
eddiespaghettio@reddit (OP)
Nobody told me that. I was just told they were fine but not ideal.

The best pile of shit still tastes worse than the worst chocolate.
East_Bug7312@reddit
Dovetail mounts like this are not a good idea
Specialist-Box-9711@reddit
Tbf I don’t blame you and nor am I going to be belittle you for buying it. I’d try to see if you can return it and then buy a sight pusher so you can remove it yourself. From there spend the $160 you spent on that on either slide milling or a stripped aftermarket slide and transfer your slide components over.
eddiespaghettio@reddit (OP)
I thought about an aftermarket slide but finding one for a Gen 4 Glock 20 has been difficult.
Low_Statement5901@reddit
Try KM tactical. My g40 has a gen 4 bullnose slide from them.

Specialist-Box-9711@reddit
I paid less than that to have my slide milled for an Acro 🤣
Lawrence_skywalker@reddit
Honestly I've had thise types of mount i got off eBay for 30 bucks. It stayed zeroedfor 5 years and thousands of rounds. IDK how you can charge 150 and duck up this bad
Specialist-Box-9711@reddit
Part of me wonders if the gunsmith bubba’d it up during the install.
eddiespaghettio@reddit (OP)
That’s what I’m thinking. Gonna take it somewhere else to be looked at
SpectreJerm@reddit
Honestly my guy, I'd personally cut my losses because these dovetail optic mounts have a pretty rough rep in my experience at least.
Jagerworks does rmr cuts and has a decent turnaround, I highly recommend going that route.
eddiespaghettio@reddit (OP)
Yea I’ll do that instead. In the meantime I’ll carry my gen 2 Glock 17.
THEFLYINGSCOTSMAN415@reddit
For what it’s worth I had a dovetail for mount like this, but from Galloway and was I was putting it on my LCP Max, but it had the exact same issue and degree of tilt.
THEFLYINGSCOTSMAN415@reddit
I think it was 180 for the mount AND paying someone to put it on?
WiseDirt@reddit
Still, tho... If you can get a full milling job done for $100, why even bother with the thing that's more expensive and might not work as well?
god545ak3n1@reddit
Nameless Armament
Is the way
NOMAD-NotHomeYet@reddit
Yerp. What this dude said. ^
Cryptic1911@reddit
lol take that off. It may be the way it's machined or the dovetail could be at an angle in the slide, but either way, that's gonna bounce around like crazy. Get the slide milled or grab an aftermarket slide with a cut already on it
eddiespaghettio@reddit (OP)
I’m looking into a Norsso slide or just buying a Gen 5.
eddiespaghettio@reddit (OP)
I’m gonna cut my losses and ditch the mount.
Threather19@reddit
Go back to irons, get the slide milled, or buy a new optic ready slide. Those are your options.
JRHThreeFour@reddit
Yeah I’d just get your slide milled. I do not and will never trust dovetailed optics mounts.
Outrageous_Lion8966@reddit
Yea I ran down this rabbit hole with an old Glock I owned. Made the mistake of buying it based off a friends recommendation and I never really like it for years. Tried modifying it in so many way to make it what I thought I wanted and eventually sold after putting too much money into it.
Long story short, get rid of that garbage. If you want a red dot then send the slide off to get milled for it, or purchase an already milled slide either stripped to where you can swap over your internals or full and you can just slap it on.
wlogan0402@reddit
That's just the -10MOA mount! Also dovetail red dot mounts are dumb
thatARMSguy@reddit
The mount itself is probably fine. The issue comes from the dovetail in the slide being designed to only mount an iron sight. Doesn’t matter if it’s not perfectly perpendicular, it’ll still work. I’d keep the mount if you buy another pistol and want to see if it fits better on that one, but I’d have this one milled for a red dot mount
sttbr@reddit
This fucking sucks.
Maximum_Dweeb4473@reddit
That thing is zeroed to hit innocent bystanders
harbourhunter@reddit
that’s called a St. Louis mount
Holosun_Josh@reddit
Time to get your slide milled.
