Why is no one complaining when there is need to

Every morning, is the same drill, the roads are traffic locked, bikes squeezed between cars and people burning fuel just to move a few streets down. And everyone just accepts it? Like this is the only way things can be? I genuinely don’t get it.
I watched my neighbor change everything with one decision, he was tired of the same drill, He had this old bicycle rusted, loud, the kind you’d assume was one ride away from falling apart. Next thing I know, he disappears for a few weeks, and when he comes back, that same bike is gliding past traffic like it’s not even part of the same city.
I asked him what he did, He said he converted it. He said he got an electric bike kit online and converted it, he was so done with the traffic and couldn’t cope again, I also asked him how he got it, he said he did order it online, after checking the prices of the ones in the physical stores, and it was just overpriced, he opted for one after scrolling through pages of media, websites, Alibaba and Amazon.
Now, here is where am annoyed, no one is doing anything, Because why is that not normal? Why are we all acting like sitting in traffic for hours is just life? Why is something as simple as upgrading what you already have seen as some rare, complicated thing? People complain every day, but the moment there’s an alternative even a small one nobody moves.
And then we wonder why nothing changes.
I see him now, just passing by, no stress, no noise, no fuel queuing just riding with ease. Meanwhile, the rest of us are still stuck, still complaining, still doing the same thing every day.
So what is it? Is it comfort? Fear? Or are we just used to things being bad? Because clearly, it doesn’t have to be this way.
And that’s the most frustrating part

Traffic in Cities is one of the reason why I moved to the Village, i'm enjoying riding on empty roads, but reall reason is my strong PTSD, I get minimal money to survive... This is not Luck, but it's good looking on this on nicer way...👍

People with money and power are just really good at brainwashing the populace into believing this is how a modern society must be. One could write a whole book on how cities and suburbia came to revolve around vehicles but essentially its just how industries made oil and steel easy to mass produce/refine. As technology got better so did the public's copium. Maybe im way off base but still, its easy for me to imagine what a 10+ billion world population collectively agreed 15 min cities and towns were self sustainable and green with 99% of ppl communting by either bikes, micro cars or electric public transportation. Maybe someday

I guess I am fortunate that I live in a medium sized (pop 15k) town in rural MN. A drive to work across town is 10 minutes at the most. Can easily bike anywhere in town when the weather is nice. Crime is low. Great place to raise a family. Cost of living is low, yet wages are decent.
The US is a huge country. So if you are tired of the rat race of large city living, consider moving to rural areas of the US and experience life at a slower pace with high standard of living.

Have you read this sub? A way larger than natural percentage of the threads are full of comments discouraging people from getting an ebike. Comments incorrectly talking about how any ebike that costs less than a used car is a for risk. Or have you seen all the new laws being implemented to restrict people riding ebikes? And a way larger than natural percentage of comments in this sub are supporting these restrictions.
The US government is owned by the highest bidders. And the highest bidders have been the oil companies for a long time. There has been a massive psy op to keep people driving gas guzzlers. They don't want people driving EVs, riding ebikes, or getting their electricity from solar panels, windmills or even hydro electric dams.

I ditched the driving commute 5 years ago. I e-bike into the city 17 km each way. I ditched the van in the city for a cargo bike, also electric, I only use the van when carrying large sheet materials or removing old waste now. It's doable. Healthier and happier. 66 this year.

Personally my commute was 30 miles and 45 minutes in a car. Not ebike territory. Many such stories. We have a giant country in the US.

Because most people commute dozens of miles every day between their job and their dwelling. Also because cycling is more than 10x as likely to get you killed and hundreds of times more likely to get you injured.

Elle Blue has some great books on the topic. It’s complicated to explain the societal dynamics involved, but don’t worry e-bikes are taking off. It’s way under reported, it’s growing rapidly. Bike share e-bikes have already offset more carbon than electric cars…and the people had fun doing it. Don’t let the car brains fool you. Spread the word and enjoy like on two wheels.
