Somewhat full timing it

I travel for work every week so I decided to go full time overland while I'm home. I cannot begin to say how amazing the freedom feels. Here's a little fishing trip on the walker river northeast of bridgeport.

Yes finally another GMC/Chevy with a smart cap build! I’ve been building my 2500 out with the sleeper on the inside. Love the build! Keep having fun!

Theyre so rare hahaha I saw another Canyon with a smart cap and was so excited

I have the 6’9 bed and there was no options for steal caps at the time. I got the commercial one and had it rhino lined. I’m waiting for the day we get a latch replacement to open from the inside.

I just finished building this bad boy. Everything done myself as well.

This was the first time I took her out.

Thats an absolutely awesome build
CodInternational8023@reddit
This was September, when I bought it. I guess it was shorter than 8 months
CodInternational8023@reddit
Appreciate it! I worked pretty hard on it. Took 8 months.

cool! thanks for sharing. Just about to get my tent topper from Chiner.
How's that solar set up? lightweight? Effective?
I'm getting an ecoflow, probably with an alternator set up, but not sure about getting solar.

I've been debating putting an alucab system on my truck. Did you do it yourself, or did you have a shop do it? What are you running for a power system?
Squirrelbomber@reddit (OP)
I just have a smart cap and a rtt. I did. Everything myself. It was super easy. Don't really see the point of a drop in camper on a midsize
Revenantjuggernaut@reddit
wtf i so smart about these smart caps. The price tag for everything that can be called overland gear is so asshole obnoxiously over priced it’s sad really. A slide in pop up starting at 18/20k lol like what 😳 looking at getting a ARE and building my own setup inside but shit figured the slide in campers would be the option for a broke bum. Negative!!! There more expensive then a tow behind 🙄 ok I’m done bitching Ty an im sorry LOL
slayercdr@reddit
Ah ok. I'm doing it to my 3/4 ton.
Squirrelbomber@reddit (OP)
That makes a lot more sense. I see a ton of Tacomas and suck running around with those and it doesnt really make sense to me. You get less than 20 sqft of floor space lol
slayercdr@reddit
Yeah, I don't tow anymore, but the truck is paid off so that's why I'm going to do that. Your setup looks clean. How has the smartcap been holding up for you?
Happy_Ad4230@reddit
Nice! What are you keeping strapped to the molle panels of the Smartcap? What are you doing for organization in the bed? I have a similar set up and am always looking for ideas.
joey12342323@reddit
I usually keep my recovery gear and a first aid kit on the molle panels.
clauderbaugh@reddit
You are a bolder man than I with putting panels on your hood like that. In my early days, I did that once and a nice gust of wind, on an otherwise calm day, came along and sent them across my hood and down the side of my Jeep (at the time). Ever since that it's been panels on the ground if I choose to deploy the portable array.
Squirrelbomber@reddit (OP)
Ive always put them on the ground when it was windy but now im worried that'll happen lol
Symav2@reddit
You got a link to the traction board mounting kit? I have the boards and channel bars on top of my RTT but no way to mount them on top.
brainhack3r@reddit
Do you have a gear list?
I'm converting to full-time and doing an iterative upgrade.
Some things I don't need now like a shower because I go to the gym every day.

sparks772@reddit
Nice, I was actually thinking of making a trip up in that area myself. It’s still a bit up in the air but I think I’m going to hit Co on the Ark somewhere, then Green River Ut, then If there’s enough time maybe a stop at the Walker or Kern before heading home.
