AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Base Clock Speed

Just upgraded my processor, but my 9800X3D shows a base clock speed of 4204.90MHz. Anyone know how I should go about fixing this?

Base clock speed is irrelevant. What does it hit under load?

Is the best way to check CineBench?
PembyVillageIdiot@reddit
That works fine. Anything that puts load on the coy should have it boosting to 5.2
PlumPlumson@reddit (OP)
During CineBench it would not go over 4.2 GHz
PembyVillageIdiot@reddit
Then there’s something seriously wrong or however youre monitoring it is messed up because it has a base clock of 4.7

I'm using CoreTemp, CPU-Z, and RyzenMaster to monitor. 4.2GHz on all during CineBench. Any idea where a should start troubleshooting?

Do you have some wack power plan accidentally set in windows?
PlumPlumson@reddit (OP)
This solved it! THANK YOU!
Power Options > Edit Plan Settings > Advanced Setting > Processor power management > Maximum processor state (it was set to 90% instead of 100%)

Hahaha a tale as old as time right there you’re not the first and won’t be the last

Is ECO mode enabled? Did you try updating the BIOS?
PlumPlumson@reddit (OP)
ECO mode is not enabled, and BIOS is up to date.

In the control panel (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options) is it set to Balanced?

Check your CPU temps....
The base clock speed is 4.7Ghz. Single-core boost clock is 5.2Ghz with potentially being able to hit that on all cores depending on temperature headroom.
PlumPlumson@reddit (OP)
Just ran CineBench and the Freq/Speed maxed at 4.2GHz and Temp maxed at 63C
Plenty-Industries@reddit
Run Cinebench again, but check VRM temps instead.
HWinfo65 Portable will show you motherboard VRM temps and its accurate.
Cradenz@reddit
where are you seeing htis base clock?
PlumPlumson@reddit (OP)
Core Temp and CPU-Z
