GPU Power Cable Question

Using a platimax 1350w PSU to run a xfx mercury 9070xt OC GPU, does anyone know what cable I’ll need to connect the PSU to the CPU?
I know it’s 3x8pin to the GPU, but I don’t know if a modern 12vhpr plug will work in the older PSU socket.

The 12VHPWR (which has been replaced with the 12V-2x6) connector is only used by mid to high end Nvidia GPUs, and two specific 9070 XT models and nothing else.
If your PSU doesn't natively support the 12V-2x6 cable, you have to use an adapter cable that goes from 2, 3, or 4 PCIe 8 pin to 12V-2x6. These are included with any GPU that uses the 12V-2x6 (or 12VHPWR) connector. But since the XFX Mercury doesn't use the 12V-2x6, you'll just being using three 8 pin PCIe cables, and the motherboard will use a 24 pin ATX and an 8 pin EPS (aka CPU) cables.

What about a XFX Mercury Radeon RX 9070XT OC?

Doesn't change anything, no variant of the Mercury model, or indeed any XFX made GPU, uses the 12V-2x6 for power. Only some number of 8pin PCIe connectors.
The only two 9070 XT models that use the 12V-2x6 are the Sapphire Nitro+ and Asrock Taichi OC.

So my Enermax Platimax 1350w PSU should work?

If you have cables for three 8 pin PCIe connectors, yes.

Could you recommend me a cable?

You need the cables that came with the PSU. If you don't have the extra cables anymore, you'll need to buy a new PSU as you can't buy new ones for a PSU that old anymore, and Enermax didn't keep the same cables across their modular PSUs.

Ok, thank you for the detailed response, just try to wrap my head around all this.
