What are you going to do about the Indians?
Posted by ShelbyHWilliams@reddit | plano | View on Reddit | 86 comments
I’ve been disturbed by an increasing number of people around Plano, Frisco, and Allen demanding to know, “What are you going to do about all the Indians?”
Our Indian friends follow the same call of freedom and opportunity as people from all over the world. It’s the same call that keeps native-born Americans here.
Setting aside questions about H1-B visas, which should be addressed to Members of Congress, Liberty is for everyone. America’s Founding Fathers fought a War of Independence 250 years ago this year for freedom above all else.
We should embrace all who come here legally, seeking the freedom and opportunity America offers. To do any less is to dishonor our Founders and the sacrifice of all who fought and died to make this country what it is.
More than that, the original promise of America, before there was even an America, was the freedom to worship according to the dictates of your conscience. I’m Christian, and I’ll defend that right to the death for my Christian, Hindu, Sikh, Jewish, Muslim, atheist, and all other brothers and sisters. We are brothers and sisters because we are all children of God first, and everything else second.
So I’ll tell you what I’m going to do about the Indians: I’m going to welcome them with open arms, and share my deep love of America, grounded in Truth, Justice, and Liberty, and I’m going to uphold the Constitutions of the United States and of Texas, as I took an oath to do.

If anyone asked me this question they wouldn’t be my friend anymore.

Find new friends Shelby. Others are not asking these questions
Crying_in_99Ranch@reddit
Go to r/Frisco, tons of racist rhetoric there
Pwrh0use@reddit
This just in, reddit is not a large sample size of the population and is not indicative of the situation in real life.
SueSudio@reddit
This just in - State representatives are spewing this garbage and winning elections over less radical opponents.
Ceeweedsoop@reddit
The Trump curse and the Democratic and Republican addiction to grift and fellatio for the Oligarchs have torn the working class to shreds. And now another thespian spectacle from our loathsome POTUS. What a sad sad joke this country is.
Ceeweedsoop@reddit
I was so fucking elated when I left Texas. Too many Trumper types of hateful "Christians." They remind me of Bob and Marylou on the Necessary Conversation podcast. Blows my mind. Watch it, it crazy how ignorance has become fashionable.
SpiffyVR@reddit
Frisco has become the worst along with Prosper.
ThiccPapaSIZZLE@reddit
Not just reddit too. Go on twitter and tiktok and racism seems to be the norm. Very disturbing
dfwagent84@reddit
Man. There really is.
daniboo918@reddit
It’s actually reallyy bad on Twitter and Facebook
Ceeweedsoop@reddit
Shelby you're right , don't listen to the pretend Christians and hateful fascists. Total waste of your time. Just remind them, their fears are only their own.
Hazrd_Design@reddit
Plenty of people are asking these questions. Hell their making videos and barging into day care centers too.
kpmelomane21@reddit
For me, it's not friends, it's (some) family and coworkers
acaii@reddit
Is my Facebook fucked or what? Feels like this is constantly on my feed and makes it seem like it’s a big growing sentiment.
Prize_Proof5332@reddit
I deleted FB years ago, I don't miss it at all.
xm1l1tiax@reddit
You still have a Facebook in the year 2026?
Kindly-Might-1879@reddit
As if commenting anonymously on reddit is sooo much better lol.
acaii@reddit
At least Reddit doesn’t promote posts that I didn’t care to see.
Fb: I just want to read stuff about grass and cars. Then I get hit with all of the political stuff.
Kindly-Might-1879@reddit
Oh there are promos on Reddit alright. And fortunately FB has that little Friends button for ad-free scrolling.
acaii@reddit
I know, I know. I’ve moved all my hobby talk from forums to Facebook groups so I def spend too much time on there.
coral225@reddit
Be aware that Facebook is a ragebait slop farm. It's algorithm is specifically directed to enrage. That is why it feels like such a hateful place.
Anon_Bourbon@reddit
I started blocking aggressive political post that were suggested in my feed. The amount suggested to me seemed to double.
Didn't realize there was an option to remove certain types of suggested content, political being one of them.
Furrealyo@reddit
It is big and it is growing, but Reddit isn’t a natural forum. You won’t see any actual discourse here.
PS: It’s not the Indians. It’s the H1B program as a whole, and Indians are just the poster children given that they are the biggest beneficiaries (by far).
zatchstar@reddit
It’s not his friends. He is campaigning for commissioner so these are people who live in our community that are asking these hateful questions.
I don’t agree with Shelby on everything but I think his message here is really important and well written
one_is_enough@reddit
I certainly haven’t heard this, since I don’t tolerate or hang around racists. I’m sure there are people that are going on about it amongst themselves, but that’s because some percentage of every population (even over in India) are xenophobes looking to blame their own failings on people different from them.
And there is one political party much more likely to talk this way about other cultures, so maybe OP is in the wrong one.
ZealousidealAntelope@reddit
MAGA is going after the Muslims now...... If you replace the word Muslim with the word Jew in MAGAs anti Muslim rhetoric it looks amazingly like Nazi rhetoric from the 1930s...... Sadly I think there are Hindus that are happy to see the Muslims attacked, not realizing that eventually eventually they will go after Hindu Indians as well.
Strong-Thanks5923@reddit
Personally I don't think the problem is with the indians, I've met quite a few Indians and they're all nice people. I think the concern here is that some of these larger corporations Are using the H1B visa program to find cheap labor. What you do have to admit, it is a big problem. I don't necessarily think that racism is good. Personally I think that we all bleed the same blood, which is what makes us all human. Which really is the only thing that matters here.

So…just so I’m clear: -They came to this country legally - They have jobs, own property and pay taxes - They’re religious - They’re community oriented - They’re never in trouble or contribute to crime
SO WHATS THE PROBLEM? I THOUGHT THIS WHAT THEY WANTED.
Shockingly, they’re just a bunch of racists
Wonderful-Context-30@reddit
I’m going to sell my house to them.
Ceeweedsoop@reddit
We should embrace our indigenous people first. From the Arctic circle to Antartica all indigenous should have all rights to move about freely with zero borders in the Americas. That said, The people of India are amazing. I studied and lived for a while in India as a solo woman traveler. I welcome them and I wish more people would. And get to know them, most Americans don't know much about India. And seriously if you feel threatened by any ethnicity, the U.S. might not be your thing
Lastly, If you aren't of Indigenous origin you should always remember who was here first. It was not you. It was not your parents or ancestors. And please, no responses from card carriers. No need to muddy the waters.
EndQuick418@reddit
That’s Plano’s richest. Some not so nice people I used to have to work with.
exotrader5000@reddit
The issue never was people coming here legally, that's respected. I met a group of Indian people locally at a group who all told me they hate it here and are just making money so they can move back to India that are H1B. Have zero respect for that sort of thing.
red_line911@reddit
Thank you has nothing to do with racism or anything like that its corporate greed and politicians using a loophole because they don’t want to pay hard working Americans their fair wages. The American dream is dead. These people are transplants who hate our country, increase our cost of living because of the demand, do not want to integrate but segregate, create a community among themselves and that’s it. The American is dying and they’re killing us off one by one. This country will be nothing but a bunch of people at a gas station. There will be no community, no life, just business. A sad and dark dog eat dog world where the dream and empire will start to crumble because of no identity, and no culture. Which is exactly what they want. If you come from money then you have no care in the world but some people don’t, some people are still out working hard trying to achieve that American dream and are held to a higher standard that is an illusion. Most importantly we’re supporting these people with our taxes and sacrifice. Who do you think creates the budget for visa programs? Our tax dollars, we pay the taxes, these corporations suck the tax dollars from us, suck the water from our ground, poison our food, and then flip us off and try to replace us in the workforce because we ask for benefits and maybe want to put our kids through college. If we committed any crimes or the atrocities these people have we would be in prison. This is what will create a new revolution and there is not anything anyone can do to stop it. I used to not believe it and now I see it as just a matter of time. Americans are fed up. They will run out of time before they can replace us. Remember hard working Americans run electricity, plumbing, HVAC, big construction like highways and streets, residential, and commercial in this country, all the little things we take for granted that some man, woman or robot can’t just put together from a computer. Choose what side you fight for wisely.
fistedwithlove@reddit
This is the honest truth. They have allegiance to "Mother India" first and foremost and are not dedicated to the American project. It's not racism, it's an understanding of objective reality.
exotrader5000@reddit
Exactly, as a liberal too it's a very unpopular take honestly for me to even bring it up. I've lived here for a long time though and I can either choose to be honest with the situation or let it get worse. I think it's time we either open a path to citizenship (non dual) to make sure people have the proper intentions and shut this program down completely.
a_polite_redditor@reddit
So, shelby likes Indians more than democrats? Because this guy blames them for the J6 insurrection.
SmokingTrailer@reddit
Oh Shelby. How about we talk about your feelings on January 6th? You know. The fallout that happened from magas lying about voting integrity to the point where yall attacked the capitol. Do you still think k it’s all pelosis fault?
I_Dislike_GroupRides@reddit
The thing is, they don't come here "legally".
I work in tech and the amount of Indians I have interviewed that cheat in the interview (proxy interviews, lip sync interviews) or have fake credentials on their resume is absurd.
H1B body shops violate all kinds of laws and rules, such as keeping H1bs on the bench (illegal)
Insular and caste based hiring practices are also the norm. Often times the only job requirement is "do you speak Telugu" and you'll get the job.
This isn't just people upset at Indians because of their dark skin color. Many of us have witness their outright racist and nepotistc hiring and management practices in the workplace first hand.

They all need to go back. We are losing our heritage and culture. It’s not a human right to live around white people. Go fix up India and leave the American jobs to real Americans. You Reddit libs are so out of touch it’s crazy. Myself and every Gen Z I know is over it. You guys aren’t ready for what’s coming
2hands10fingers@reddit
Crazy you think American heritage has to do with “white people”. Let me remind you that much what has built this country was also Hispanics and black people, and even Asians now. Our country is young af and still being built.
Dry-Guess5978@reddit
Yeah buddy facts aren’t racist. Compare white countries IQ to other countries. There’s a reason white people literally built the modern world and everybody flocks to white countries. But keep hating on white people and promoting the erasure
2hands10fingers@reddit
Wow. Pretty defensive take. Where did you get the idea that IQs are higher? Please understand, there are many different IQ tests, all with different standards, and test for different things. No one IQ test is actual representation of intelligence, so what makes you sure you can come up with how IQs are higher in white countries? I don’t hate white people, either; I was raised by them, lived among them, and continually work with them. But when you say “white people”, are you talking about Scandinavian, Caucasian, …maybe something else…?
Dry-Guess5978@reddit
Father of DNA even agrees white iq is higher. Ask for urself. Ask AI the average IQ of any European country versus like Somalia and it’s gonna be Europe every time 😂. Not racist to be proud of your heritage and want to live around people that come from the same ancestry and look like you in a country your ancestors built. But it’s only racist when white people say it apparently
2hands10fingers@reddit
Still being defensive, I see. We can’t have much of a conversation if you keep assuming I’m calling you a racist when I never stated as such. Have a good one 👋
ahava9@reddit
Unfortunately the US has a long history of scapegoating or hating on a newish immigrant community every generation. Idk why this is now an issue when the South Asian communities have been well established in DFW for a while. I have a feeling it has to do with the rise of white Christian supremacists in politics and the far right.
terribleD03@reddit
You seem to think the US is an inherently racist country. It's not. And it's obvious you've never lived literally anywhere else in the world (or at least that isn't a westernized society).
FYI - Christian nations are - by FAR - the most tolerant and inclusive nations on the planet. It's one of the many reasons why the rest of the world literally is willing to everything from commit crimes to enter into voluntary servitude and to even risk death to get into the US.
boylong15@reddit
Yep, they keep screaming about “merit” but they cant accept that Indian are doing exactly that.
OneMaharajah@reddit
All the Suburbs North of Dallas has always had so many Indians. Never understood this newfound fear, plenty of Indians who moved here in the 70s and 80s to Garland, Carrollton, and Irving
jakolissmurito22@reddit
That's actually one of the reasons I miss Plano. Thank you for speaking on this! Miss you guys ❤️
Diabetesh@reddit
Speak out against it. Often it doesn't change that person whether you know them or they are a stranger, but maybe standing against it leads them to change or signals them that their mindset isn't accepted like they may think it is.
Pooja-church-7065@reddit
why are all the cities full of black people, why is garland full of spanish people. people just want to live near people similar to them so they have a community and don't feel alone.
username-generica@reddit
My husband’s Indian so none of our friends think that way as far as I know. We met in college and he obtained US citizenship in ‘08 through our marriage. He came here for college which is where we met. Like many other Indians, he’s been an asset to the US and has built a company that currently employs more than 40 legal residents, most of whom are US citizens.
Express_Mind_3264@reddit
There’s nothing to do about them. The kids will grow up as Indian American. Within a generation they will start adapting to the American culture. Same thing happened to Japanese and Chinese people that immigrated over. Fears of one culture over running American culture is often overblown.
life_is_absurd7@reddit
“Shelby”
swingsetmafia@reddit
Agree, however if you had to put a % on the different scenarios. What percentage of people are going through or have gone through the entire legal immigration process that on average takes 20 years and what percentage are on temporary legal status and abusing H1B? My apartment complex is probably around 75% Indian. My car is parked next to three cars right now with student driver stickers on them. That doesnt happen because there's so many going through the legal immigration process, especially now with how hostile to immigration this amdimistraion is. People shouldn't be racist but theres a big problem with the H1B system acting as a loophole to the normal process.
vanillaobscene@reddit
Fuck off with this shit Shelby, not gonna work anymore.

Not gonna lie the Indian girls are hyper sexual, been out in plano alot lately and had my fair share. Don't use deodorant but it's not a bad natural smell.

tjvwill@reddit
Yeah - sadly a lot of Telegu Indians are doing this
Lyuseefur@reddit
Here’s the loophole. A major and wealthy firm in any country could (prior to it being $100k per application), buy an apartment building, do a series of contracts with major technology firms, ship people here and have at least four years of employment.
There are guides for H1B workers on how to find, date or otherwise marry a local American and to then have kids by said American. Such a marriage then qualifies the H1B worker for American status.
Since 2015 there are nearly 7 million H1B workers newly added to the US economy. 5 million are from India. 780,000 from China.
vanillaobscene@reddit
Susan you are a gullible nimwit. How can you have this conversation while saying to put the H1B conversation aside? It's people like you that are ruining this country with your suicidal empathy and need to virtue signal.
sisterfunkhaus@reddit
I welcome them. I hope this doesn't come across as racial stereotyping, but as an ex-teacher teacher, my Indian students were the most respectful rule following students I had. Having gone to UTD, the Indians I encountered were polite law abiding citizens. I also love having a mix of cultures. The more the merrier.
fransisco_flores@reddit
Shelby sends a shit ton of text messages when he is “running.” Incessantly asking for my vote will get you nowhere!
bobster36@reddit
Enjoy their cuisine! Act like I actually understand the rules of cricket! (I do not)
Like my eastern European Jewish great-grandparents that immigrated around 1899, we learned about the wonders of Asian (mostly Chinese), Italian and Hispanic (mostly Mexican) food. Now get Korean, Thai, Indian, Middle Eastern and other cuisines from around the world. We should be having a parade to celebrate.
America is mostly unique with a true melting pot. So what if everyone in Costco isn’t speaking the same language? Everyone still loves the hot dogs 😂 (ok the health nuts don’t like the hot dogs but they are new on the scene in the past 50 years too!)
