Which areas fill up quickly for parking?

What areas do truck stops fill earlier than normal? There’s my first time in DMV area and it’s packed here. I’m in the TA in Jessup,Maryland. While getting here I seen a ton of trucks parked on the shoulder of the highway and outside the rest area

If you're not stopped by 6 youre not getting a spot

Anything East of the Mississippi and parking gets exponentially harder to find every hour after 5pm.

Everywhere between Fredrecksburg and Hartford on I-95/I-9 and a few places on I-81 like near Allentown and Hagerstown.
Most of the rest of the country isn't like that. Not even L.A. or Chicago. You can get spots there late if you have enough clock to keep looking until you find one.

Idk exactly where it is, but there is a pilot flying j in the area with a golden corral that I dont think ever fills up

Like everyone's saying, the east coast fills up quickly. TA's are known as if everywhere else is filled up, you probably have a chance to snag a spot there. Sometimes you'll luck out with rest area's late at night too. Weight stations are typically completely empty or have spots at least, I've never seen a completely packed one and I've been driving for almost 5 years.
Try the free version of trucker path, it typicaly helps show you how much parking is left at a truck stop, it's been a lifesaver since I discovered it.

Weigh stations in Florida always fill up

Oh thanks I got the paid trucker path. I will keep that in mind running on the east coast

Dorsey Rd and the surrounding areas have shoulder parking.

One reason many do not go into areas where parking is non existent for semi trucks. Let some poor sucker deal with it.

I’ll just say I’m glad I work for a company that reimburses parking fees (within reason), I try to avoid paid parking when and where I can but sometimes they like to send me to places where it’s hard to find free parking so it is what it is.
My general rule of thumb is, with a few exceptions, if you’re in the eastern half of any of the original 13 colonial states, if you’re not parked by 1630-1700, good luck finding a free spot, might as well plan on paying. If you’re anywhere near a major metropolitan area, bump that up to 1530-1600.

Yeah my company reimburses paid parking

If you’re ever extremely desperate sometimes your best bet is looking for industrial/warehouse areas in a city. 9 times out of 10 at least 1 of the streets in that area will have trucks parked on the street, have to be careful through because you become a prime target for cargo theft parked on a quiet street with no traffic.

How about parking at shoppers/receivers for the night
MajorHymen@reddit
Good luck. I don’t know where you deliver to but about 99% of the places I go do not allow overnight parking especially not once you’re loaded or unloaded they kick you out. You can try and park on the street off their property but that’s about as good as it gets.

Oh ok thanks

If you're ever are traveling to NY or Jessup, this little gem right here is a life saver.
239 Route 17K, Newburgh, NY 12550. It's a Pilot, but it's a good place to park. Only about 200 some miles outside of Jessup.

Thanks

Bro you fucked up getting there at this time..I hate that TA..that’s the 30$ parking one..if you’re not there by 5pm..forget it..mind as well go the rest stop that’s a few miles up
RoamingNomadSoul@reddit (OP)
Yeah this my first time on the east coast. I usually run Midwest and southern states. Luckily I found a spot. I was wondering since you know this place… since it’s paid parking for everyone, what’s the spots that says reserved? Do they pay more ?
Desperate_Fee_808@reddit
The north southeast and midwest is what I typically run..but somehow someway……….i ended up in great falls, montana this weekend..do not ask me how that happened lol
RoamingNomadSoul@reddit (OP)
Oh I like Montana, in the summer time it’s beautiful
Desperate_Fee_808@reddit
Yeah those spots are even more..it’s 30$ (or 25) for everyone and then the reserves are even more
RoamingNomadSoul@reddit (OP)
Nah that’s actually crazy. $25 if for all regular so those should be more
MemeManThomas@reddit
Damn, you’re in a tough spot. If you’re in a parking spot, may as well just stay there and be glad you made it to a spot, even if you have to pay. If you’re not in a spot, you’re living a core memory right now.
RoamingNomadSoul@reddit (OP)
Yeah luckily I found a spot

Ive heard east coast in general, but I will say that TA is basically the only place around to park other than the rest areas. So its a busy area with almost no truck parking.
