Hearts are food of the gods!! Back in the day, they sold hearts and gizzards packaged together. But about 10 years ago, they started just selling the gizzards. I ove gizzard, but I LOVE hearts!! I looked for them everywhere. Then I was told by a butcher that the reason they’re so hard to find is because they’re a popular freeze dried dog treat. Now the only place I can find them is in Mexican and Asian markets.
newhappyrainbow@reddit
Or PetSmart.
Big_Researcher_3027@reddit
🤣🤣
blobfish293@reddit
😂
Mediocre-Contest7558@reddit
I live in the US . They literally sell this shit at the grocery store lol
Big_Researcher_3027@reddit
I live in St. Louis and you can’t find them at any of the chain stores, and none of the butcher shops I called had them either. Like I said, the only places around me that sells them are the Mexican mercados and the Asian markets.
caelum_daemon@reddit
I thought they were potatoes 😕
Mediocre-Contest7558@reddit
😵💫😵💫🤢

Buk buk what the fuck
crocicorn@reddit
Chicken hearts are the best part of the chicken, anyone who hasn't had them is missing out!
lilislilit@reddit
I love chicken hearts! I usually blanche them, aren't they chewy asf if you overdo them?
StormofRavens@reddit
My cats would go crazy for this
Altoid97@reddit (OP)
Mine got a little taste
TaylrMade74@reddit
Chicken hearts are so good when done right. And those look pretty damn good!
Altoid97@reddit (OP)
Couldn't agree more, and thank you!
Commie_Scum69@reddit
NOT YOU AGAIN
Altoid97@reddit (OP)
This made me laugh way too hard
gleepglorpad@reddit
hows the texture? i want to try chicken hearts but ive heard theyre unbearably chewy unless cooked right
Little-Highlight7763@reddit
its nice until you get on with the tubes still attached
BaziJoeWHL@reddit
we usually just cut off that part when we prepare it
rawleye@reddit
My first time discovering them as a kid was wild to me. Like dissecting organs but you're eating them. Of course my excitement grossed out the others.
Little-Highlight7763@reddit
i always ate gizzards and hearts as a kid, cook it in cream of mushroom over rice either eat or starve lol
BaziJoeWHL@reddit
I only had it boiled in soups so its kinda skewed for me:
chewy and kinda dense, since it has hollow parts inside it has a kinda strange texture
garanvor@reddit
Brazilian here. Chicken hearts is a churrasco staple. I usually hate the strong taste of gizzards, but the hearts are awesome, with no strong taste whatsoever.
baganga@reddit
Paella with chicken hearts is such a great food, sadly most americans will never understand
notabigmelvillecrowd@reddit
Like very lean steak.
pkmaster99@reddit
It's slightly chewy and crunchy at the same time. When seasoned well, it's very good. Chicken liver is probably better though. I enjoy that a lot more.
Big_Researcher_3027@reddit
I love gizzards and hearts but you can keep the liver all to yourself! 🤢
MsTLontheDL@reddit
Never eaten chicken hearts before but chicken gizzards tasted like fried rubber bands. Hard pass for me on BOTH!!!🤮
pkmaster99@reddit
Each to their preference. But these are the type of food that you need to try it at least once.
Big_Researcher_3027@reddit
They rest of my family likes chicken livers but for me it’s a combination of both the texture and the strong irony taste that I find unappealing.
pkmaster99@reddit
Ah, fair. That's understandable
MsTLontheDL@reddit
I love chicken and beef liver!!! 😋
Veneboy@reddit
Well, hearts are a muscle. If you marinate them and baste them with the marinate while grilling they come out slightly chewy, tasty and very delectable. If you over do them they get bitter and rather tough.
Lunartic2102@reddit
They are awesome, less chewy than gizzards.
The_Trevbone@reddit
They're good. Just try it. If they're too chewy, you don't have to have more
jordanpatrich@reddit
To me they’re like a chewy sausage
Motor-Cranberry-1092@reddit
Boil them with the rest of your chicken stock, just add salt and pepper...it's soul medicine
Pain4420@reddit
I'm from Louisiana and I used to go fishing with my dad and we would use chicken hearts and once we were done fishing we would fry up the hearts we had left over. They were so good and they were firm but not chewy.
pony_is_my_name@reddit
Why?

weirdoldhobo1978@reddit
Used to get these for $1/lbs when I was a broke ass raft guide.
bandwagonnetsfan@reddit
Is this something you crave when low on iron? 😅
saltporksuit@reddit
It’s what I fed my FIV cat to help his anemia. So yeah.
ThatGuyFrom720@reddit
I wanna try em just don’t know where to get em at lol. Never have seen them at a Food City or Kroger but also have never actively seeked them out.
Do love me some goose liver though.
Deathclaw_Hunter6969@reddit
Find a Mexican meat market near you. They’ll have them
cyclorphan@reddit
Or many Asian markets.
laforet@reddit
Brazilian churrasco places often have them, it’s called coração de frango.
MsTLontheDL@reddit
If there’s an International market near you they’ll probably carry chicken hearts. Yesterday I shopped at Nam Dae Mun Farmers Market in GA. It is more of an International Market because they stock lots of fresh fruit, vegetables, spices, seafood, chicken, beef, pork, whole frozen rabbits, lambs and goats. They carry items that aren’t typically carried by the National chains.

I cant find chicken hearts without gizzards. I DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR 50 FUCKING GIZZARDS JUST TO GET FIVE HEARTS!! its frustrating. I've been looking for years

Pandelein@reddit
Why am I fine with eating other parts of the chicken, but find this fucking revolting?
Like, genuine question. Who conditioned me this way?
ItsMrDante@reddit
That sounds fire honestly. I would probably make the milk into a protein shake personally but you do you
lordmanbat1@reddit
ghorbanifar@reddit
I swiped over and over because I thought there had to be more
SanestExile@reddit
12 chickens had to die for... that.
tulipskull@reddit
They probably also died for the rest of their meat tbh. At least nothing is wasted this way.
2b-Kindly_@reddit

Bruh wtf
Kquinn87@reddit
I've only had chicken hearts twice and both times was while I was in Brazil; they were devine.

I've never seen chicken hearts on the vine before, good thing they took them off

You just chucked them in and cooked them? I would at least tosd them in corn or potato starch to grt a little crisp.
Anubis-Hound@reddit
Y'all ever notice how they don't sell brains at the meat section? Might be because of prions, might be because most people are put off by brains, like cow brain or pig brain. If I had the chance I would try it but I don't think I would like it. It would be too weird.

You’re better than most. Not many can chew hearts boiled and fried in oil.

I do eat chicken, but it still makes me sad to think 12 chickens died for this plate
De-railled@reddit
ROFL, you make that sound like they only took the hearts out and just tossed the rest of the chicken away.
In some countries, when you buy a whole chicken, they put a samll bag inside that has the edible organs. It's useful for making sauces, stocks or soups.
In many other countries, they can only sell a certain percentage to groceries and restaurants, so they instead sell them to factories to turn into pet food or waste.
Vohasiiv@reddit
I know, its still sad to think about
NekoGoddess9625@reddit
Chicken hearts ARE good, but this presentation is absolutely trash. Great job!!! 👍👌
