Collecting autographs, is that still a thing?

"Downsizing" and I found this. Scott Weiland. RIP Autographed on August 29, 1993 Lowlands Festival.

All good but please have a plan. My brother and I are currently stuck trying to figure out what to do with our dad’s baseball memorabilia collection.

Oh man, I have so much crap, pretty hard to get rid of anything. These autographs, I'll keep, the rest I'm not ready to part with.

I think it great under ONE condition.
I have to be the one who hands them the item to sign and they sing it in front of me.
If not, I have absolutely no tie to the item and to be honestly, there is never real proof that they actually singed it.

100%. I don't understand people paying money for them.

Absolutely!
I have signed photos from John Williams, Michael Jackson, the entire cast of MASH, and Harrison Ford.

I really never understood the concept behind them.

I’ve got some signed movie posters and a few CDs/records.

Cool! I’ve got a small collection of signed books (the Norm Macdonald one I treasure).

if that’s what you’re into

Autographs and photos all day of my favorite artists.
Gotta get them all.
Never for resale. For me.

I be the in thing now is selfies. My 18 year old daughter saw a celebrity that she recognized at an event and texted me a picture of her with the celebrity.

My 18 year old son and I went to see Everclear last year. We met the band, got a few things signed and a pic taken. I printed out a couple 8x10s of that picture and got them signed by Everclear before a show on Friday. They got a kick out of it. I had it framed and stopped by my kids work yesterday to give it to him. I think that was the most excited he was over something he’s been given.

My kids have their bedroom walls covered with setlists, many of the autographed. They collect guitar picks, drumsticks, and other band gear they manage to catch at live shows. They get records, CDs and tshirts autographed.

It's all selfies now, which I just won't do. The last time I met a celebrity I admire after a few kind words he asked me if I wanted a quick selfie. I declined and said "I know I met you." He ended up buying me and my husband a drink and we talked even longer.

Been collecting these for years now.

Yep, I have a sizeable collection shared with my husband. Our favorite piece is the poster autographed by several members of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

That is so awesome. I actually got to see him perform just a couple of weeks before he passed away. He struggled thru the performance, forgot lyrics, etc. But I was still so happy to be there. Saw them in concert 3x while I was in my 20’s & 30’s. Always a huge STP fan.
RIP Scott ❤️
