Any idea what would make a Good 2nd Car?

2nd Post on here after the Bat Post, but thought to ask here about another Predicament.
I have an Automatic 2002 Vauxhall Corsa that I've been driving Since 2023 as my First Car and I believe it's starting to become More Repairs than what it's worth.
Any Suggestions what would make a Good 2nd Car? I was thinking of getting an 2007 or later Vauxhall Astra but idk.
I don't have a Job so the budget is basically about 2 Grand and that's it (Joys of only getting Benefits :/)

Whatever you go for, spend a while looking. I've always spent a while looking for cars and travelled upto 75 miles to look at cars (only ones I really thought might be the one) and I've saved a lot. Literally thousands.
It's about looking for a needle in a haystack. And I'm not suggesting you travel 75 miles, bit put the circle outside of the main area you live in. Prices are high around main cities.
Personally really rate older BMWs. The price drops off at about 10 years but you can find some deals about for decent ones. I used to own a Peugeot 207 Economique (insane mpg), but the cost of repairs was the same as a BMW but I've had to fix my BMW far less. My budget was more but now is only worth about £2.5 k in great condition. (Don't get low profile tires in any car, it'll cost a lot more to replace when the time comes).

Have a look at a VW Up. Cheap to buy and run, and very reliable, even with high mileage. Get one pre-2017 and tax is only £20 per year.
Just make sure you check around the filler cap for rust if you like the look of an earlier one. The earlier models don't have rear arch liners, so moisture and debris get kicked up into the rear panel and can cause rust.
Other than that, cheap to buy, insure, tax, and maintain.

I managed to snag a proper good deal
Corsa limited edition, 7k miles on the clock for 8 grand, 18 plate, bought it 5 years ago and had to fix maybe 3 things on it total since then and now go 50+k miles on it
You want something reliable and fuel efficient that is relatively cheap on insurance, until you have kids, good income etc you shouldn't be worrying too much about how it looks

honestly, it depends on what you need it for. if you get sucked into a rabbit hole of reliability ratings, a honda civic or toyota corolla might be a solid choice.

Electric mini, 71 or 72 plate, put the 2k down as a deposit then pay roughly 200 to 275 a month but you'll save loads not buying fuel anymore.
Lvl 2 ones go for 12k atm, lvl 3 14k.
Most have lowish mileage, 100 to 130 miles between charges.

OP says they don't have a job. And not in a way that sounds like "because I'm rich".

True, but they can just fib.

I think you need a new 1st car rather than a second car.

Does it have to be an automatic. If not then you can easily find a decent car for 2k. If yes then itll be very difficult to find a reliable automatic car for that price.
PracticeNo8733@reddit
TBH at that price level it's more a matter of looking at what deals you can find locally that look good/reliable than picking a model going from there.
