Bags are 10 cents each in CA.
If you’re in Nevada grab bags when you can.
If you don’t need anything heavy duty. Grab a few or more of the veggie bags in the produce aisle. They don’t charge for those!

Most Sprouts locations have a “take a bag, leave a bag” box with a bunch of their semi-reusable bags you can grab for free (normally 25¢). If you happen to be by one it’s worth grabbing a couple bags.

If you want to stock up and keep a clear conscience, you can buy Winco bags for $0.05 a pop. Five bucks for a hundred is a good deal and lasts a good long while.
Walmart might have a similar deal, but Winco bags are a bit sturdier.

I stockpile the plastic bags whenever I do my weekly Walmart grocery run elsewhere in the country. Helps cover for states like California and Colorado that have gone to paper bags.

On the flip side, Washington's eco-plastic bags are very solid. I usually try to save them over others.

Wastebin size trash liners will work in a pinch. You can get those at Walmart pretty cheap. 🤷🏻♀️

So back in 2023 I was at a repair shop somewhere in Oklahoma just before closing and I jokingly mentioned to the closing tech, who was complaining about someone over ordering the bags that he was refilling, that I could take a box or 2 off your hands if it's really that much of a hassle. Well he called my bluff and gave me 3 boxes of the damn things. I still haven't gone through the first box of bags. Unfortunately they're only the thin ones that break at the slightest inconvenience but still, that's 3+ years of never needing them so far. I even went and split a stack (5 stacks to a box) between the home vehicles.
