Best cheap usable impact wrench for diy?

What would be the recommended impact for just doing diy stuff, needs to be powerful enough for wheel bolts and preferably comes with battery. Thanks

I got the craftsman in a pinch once and honestly it far exceeded my expectations.
I hope you’re only loosening wheel bolts, and not attempting to tighten them (which should never be done with an impact.

Yeah I’d just like to crack them off with the impact it’s much handier

Hercules from harbor freight.
Step up to Milwaukee or DeWalt.

I’m in Ireland don’t have harbour freight unfortunately
ActionJackson75@reddit
It still might be the best deal buying on eBay fwiw

Shipping is crazy

That info would've been relevant to my answer.

This right here, Milwaukee is arguably the best, but I have a compact Dewalt and whatever the most expensive Hercules 1/2 one is. It’ll either loosen whatever you’re hitting with it or something’s gonna break.

I got the high hp Ridgid (that’s the eco system I use) 3/4. It removes pretty much everything. The 1/2 inch was on sale for $99 and it’s good for large lag bolts in 4x4 wood. But the high hp walks through cv axles, high torque structural bolts and suspension. It’s heavy and a pain to use one handed but it has never failed me. For air I have a cheap 3/4 bluepoint that works when I’m dismantling engines but my go to is the high torque Ridgid 3/4

Unfortunately can’t get in my country 😞 they look good for cheap so it’s a shame

For what it’s worth, use a breaker bar for wheelbolts. Then anything else will do. Dewaly and makita are like sledgehammer vs scalpel. I have a huge compressor so I say just a good air impact will work. But if you want a battery, as much as it pains me to say it, dewalt is your go to. I don’t own a single dewalt tool. But I admit to having a lot of Stanley tools. If had to I would swap from Ridgid to dewalt, but only if my Makita would not achieve my goals.

I’d update your post to include where you live. It’s relevant since a lot of people from the US will be giving you recommendations which will be irrelevant to where you live.

People hate on ryobi but even the non hp 1/2" impact will do wheel bolts and it's about $100

Nothings wrong with ryobi for home owner. I would concentrate on getting one system for all my tools. I went with Bauer from harbor freight. Which are ok.

I would strongly suggest the hi torque over the regular model for wheel lugs.
twosuperior@reddit
Me too but I own both and the original was fine but two is better then one.

I have the hp hi-torque. The automatic setting is a nice quality of life thing. It ramps power til the fastener either moves or stops moving (depending on direction). Fully charged 4.0 has yet to break something loose on any of my salt belt vehicles.

For me it’s €140 with no battery which isn’t bad I’ll consider it
DetectiveNarrow@reddit
Downvote but my 75 dollar Amazon special battery powered impact has worked for over 3 years and can take off axle nuts.
hourGUESS@reddit
Ryobi cheapie 1/2 inch. It's more than enough for today's modern wheels. That's what I use as a hobbyist. I wouldn't trust it for professional use but for project shit. Fuck yeah. Save some money and get the Ryobi.

I bought my 1/2" Dewalt and it has never failed to get a bolt off, even a 400ft/lb one on my trac bar. It was on sale at the time and I got a couple batteries with the deal. Yeah whatever it's not as good as Milwaukee but it has worked just fine for years for me and I had some other yellow tools before it.

Thanks I’ll look into those
