Unfortunately half my family are separatists (and a few of them are straight up pro-American) and it’s causing major problems. The remain people are way more numerous but the separatists are much more vocal and aggressive, and have the provincial government 100% behind them. I think this is a bigger problem than a lot of people realize. The political base of the ruling party is where 100% of the separatists are, and the premier and cabinet are beholden to their interests ahead of those of the majority of Albertans.

Canada has been pushing so-called multiculturalism since the 90s. Multiculturalism ia the antithesis of cultural identity. After mass immigration, canadian cultural identity is basically dead. There's stilll some, but it's rare, PPC for instance, but they dropped like 80% support between the last two elections, from zero seats but ~5% pop vote to something close to 1% pop vote.
