I'm not sure about him, let me go in the garage. Oh, we live in a rented apartment, we don't have a garage. But I can check the parking space, oh there you go - don't have a covered space that's why skipped on buying that.
I sold my sports car (not as nice as that one) after I realized I was literally invisible to SUV drivers. Roof line is lower than their window, and no way they can see you close in front over their hood.
Valid. My point is just that if you own something super pricey, youāre not only risking your own asset by driving it on public roads, but also risking financial ruin for everyone around you. It just seems like a potential bummer for everyone.
Iāve actually thought about this a few times. I agree with you that there are some cars that are entirely reasonable to expect to be around on public roads. I feel like there should be a liability cap that limits the financial responsibility of someone in extreme cases. Like hey you want to buy a McLaren P1 and drive it around? Knock yourself out. But if someone hits you some of that cost is going to be on you, which you can presumably afford given that your car is the cost of a house.
Of course the point is that this is what insurance is for, but insurance has coverage maximums that may be insufficient in many cases with rare/exotic vehicles. Ignoring that, anyone that hits an overly expensive car is almost certainly getting hit with a massive rate hike, or may find themselves almost struggling to find coverage.
Yeah, I consider this car up there with Shelby Cobras. If you see one on the road, it's a replica. They're so rare and so expensive that most people would not be dumb enough to risk it on the open road like this.
They probably have enough money to get away with it but is that even legal to drive? European plates but that doesn't mean anything here? No registration, but at least old enough to be considered a classic car so likely no inspection needed?
Yeah, I specifically went to Stuttgart to hit those two up. The Mercedes museum is definitely a better overall experience but I really like the early Porsche race cars.

noncongruent@reddit
As a replica it's even more rare than the real thing. The main advantage is that it will likely be easier to fix as a replica.

I believe it is a replica from Ford v. Ferrari. Iāve seen it at car, specifically Porsche, meetups. There was a meetup as Gas Monkey today.
Several 906 replicas from the production are out in the wild. Some of the buyers repainted and reworked them.
I may be wrong though about this one.

The 906 was the last road legal racing car Porsche built for Group 4 FIA regulations.
This one may be a replica from the Ford v. Ferrari filmāa number were built and are now out in the wild.

I was thinking more road legal from a registration view. European license plate doesn't have any weight here in the U.S., right?
