Can I go from a high split gear to another high split gear?

As the title says on any transmission with a splitter, can I go from say, 5 (high) to 6(high) etc.

5 h to 6 l to 6 h. Split each gear if needed. L to h change to next gear L to h If heavy load.

As long as you can match road speed to RPMs, you can go to or from any gear you want.

Yes, you can go from directly 5H to 6H. Ratio-wise, It's no different than going from 7th to 8th in a 10-speed.

5 times 2 times 2. That’s what you have.
Five-speed close ratio transmission. Intentionally labeled as L/1/2/3/4.
Two-speed broad-ratio range shifter. Low range, high range, and the gap between is roughly equivalent to the difference between 1st gear and the next gear above 4th gear.
Two-speed very-close-ratio splitter shifter. Gap between the two is roughly half of the step between two adjacent gears in the transmission.
Software. On all of them, L is locked out in high range. On a 13-speed, the splitter is locked out in low range. On a nine-speed, the splitter is completely locked out (and they don’t install a splitter shifter).
That’s it. That’s what you have. Nothing more, nothing less. Don’t do anything stupid but use the shifting that makes sense for your need. If you have an 18-speed and you’re empty so you want to use 1split 2direct 4split 5direct 7split 8direct, skipping two gears at a time and turning it into a six-speed while you’re empty, go for it.

Software? On a manual trans? You can certainly drop the shifter in the low hole in high range(and split it) if you want. It’s not recommended but it won’t blow anything up if you do it on accident. And the splitter isn’t “locked out” on a 9, it doesn’t exist. That entire portion of the gearbox doesn’t exist.

Read your operators manual. Yes you can skip gears. You can go from 5L to 6H if you really want.

Hell yeahhhh brotherrr

Heck, when I’m running empty, I’ll just run 5L-6L-7L-8L-8H, only splitting my top gear. On 18s, the splitter just provides extra options if you’re running heavy to minimize the rpm drop between gears. Just be sure if you start skipping gears that you’re not lugging the engine when you catch the next gear

With a 18 you can pretty much go from any gear to any other gear within the rpm range. For example with a higher powered empty truck you can start in 2H, grab 4H. Then 6L then 8L and then H. There’s no need to use every half gear or even every gear

Damn that’s cool that you can skip gears even up shifting.

I go 3h, 5l, 6h, 7h, 8l, 8h when empty
Frac_Hauler@reddit
All the extra gears are for options. Not for sequential shifting. Use the gear you need
325trucking@reddit
It's fine as long as you are light enough to get away with it without lugging

Gotcha. Driving stick is pretty fun imo, just need more stick time tbh
