I'll bet this goes nowhere. Any takers?

Massie’s name carries the only respectable weight of the republican caucus. With midterms coming around the corner they need every win they can get and Massie is that win.

Massie isn't going to get the state to voluntarily roll back powers they already have. That's just the world in which we live.

Sure but he is setting himself up to be a powerhouse for 28 if he wants to run. I genuinely think with both the republicans and Democrats approval sitting at like 28% there is a chance for Massie to make a difference.

All that may be true, but Congress is full of power hungry statists. Asking them to limit their own power is like asking a fat man to limit his consumption of cake. 😉

Consider telling your representatives to co-sponsor this bill!
LagerHead@reddit
My rep wouldn't sponsor this bill if his life depended on it.

This bill needs a strong showing of support from constituents and that this becomes a campaign question asked at events. The military/ police industrial complex will be intimidating office holders.
Absent robust political competition in proportional representation (with ballot access) how do we hold them accountable?

And they're calling it "The Fourth Amendment!"
NeoWayland@reddit
So the obvious question is why has government convinced people this isn’t already covered by the Fourth Amendment?
Of course they need a warrant. They don’t need more legalese defining what exceptions are allowed under what circumstances.

Unfortunately, at least since Hamilton convinced Washington to send an army in to one stat's jurisdiction to put down the Whiskey Rebellion, the regime has proven willing to ignore the Constitution when it suits them. Despite usurping the authority from the states to decide what is or isn't Constitutional, the Supreme Court has declined to even attempt to stop the surveillance state, so this is probably the only thing we can do in the short term to rein it in at all. Ultimately, we either need a convention of states or a mass nullification movement at the state and local level.

Sadly, the courts have been weakening the 4th amendment over the past several decades. This video and this one by Naomi Brockwell give a good summary of the legal history.
Naomi Brockwell is president of the Ludlow Institute, a pro-privacy non-profit which wrote this very bill.
