Build 32 mile long, ultralight, unbendable poles. Force flat earthers to carry them around everywhere, so they can see the curvature of the earth for themselves, until they acknowledge that the Earth is round.

Very inventive was to say that we should crush all flat earthers. Now this is why I am a member of this sub.
OkDrag3967@reddit
OP did say that the poles were to be ultralight
dr_stre@reddit
He did also say they would be 32 miles long. Even a 100% aerogel pole 2 inches in diameter would weigh 250 lbs.
Smokin_belladonna@reddit
What’s the deflection of a 2” diameter aerogel pole over 32 miles?
dodexahedron@reddit
Yes.
TheSagelyOne@reddit
They'd complain that the poles are curved.
TedW@reddit
And they'd be right, because we can't build a 32 mile long straight pole.
Marquar234@reddit
And how do you make the laser stop at exactly 32 miles?
Use your thinking brain. 😛
TedW@reddit
It's a 32 mile laser, now with 600% more laser!
geobibliophile@reddit
I suppose if they’re made out of aerogel, such poles may only weigh a few kilograms, so not too heavy, but incredibly awkward.
Marquar234@reddit
Just use a D&D pole. You can carry a 10ft pole without ever addressing how, or where or it ever getting in the way of combat.
gc3@reddit
They'd break or blow away
terry47147@reddit
32 mile long poles are even going to have a hard time finding underwear that fits...
Smokin_belladonna@reddit
Poles or poles? Amirite?
Smokin_belladonna@reddit
They all know the earth is round just like the all know there is no god. It’s not a knowledge thing, it’s a self-deception thing.
rawcal@reddit
Space agencies around the world could be interested about your poles for construction of space elevators.
thaynem@reddit
What magic material are these made of?
ursois@reddit (OP)
32 mile long poles.
ijuinkun@reddit
That would be great—if you could convince the flat earthers that the poles actually were unbendable.
joshkahl@reddit
If a flat earther said the pole wasn't perfectly rigid, that would be the smartest thing to ever come out of their mouth.
lazydog60@reddit
Build one straight walkway that long, out in the desert somewhere
Sorry-Climate-7982@reddit
It is so refreshing to see such rare optimism in online posters these days that something like this could actually change the mind of even one flat earther.
I actually wonder how many flat earthers are really just trolls messing with people's heads though.
Nice_Blackberry6662@reddit
They'd just complain the local terrain was uneven.
