Are you suggesting that a mismanaged economy with so riddled with propaganda that it can't understand reality and it's own limitations is currently stumbling into a reckless and unwinnable war in western Asia while experiencing imperial overreach leading to it's entire alliance structure to weaken and potentially be on course for collapse could just happen?

Don't forget the criminal conduct and open corruption by government entities along with the rise of a rabid oligarchy calling for mass conscription of the undesirables.

Ireland is going to be going through some shit, especially with it now being a massive tax haven and seemingly money-laundering point. Wealth inequality there is rising. None of the common folk seeing that money despite on paper having one of the highest per-capita GDPs in the world.
50_61S-----165_97E@reddit
Don't forget the crazy inflation and sky high interest rates

This hasn't happened since 911 when everyone pointed it was hypocritical that US citizens wer funding the IRA but also having a war on terrorism.
Weary_Sheepherder895@reddit
Even though the GFA was in 1998?
Alarming_Eagle_8832@reddit
Itās no secret that you could go into many bars in America and find an IRA donation boxes at that time.
You know people travel for business and see things. And that is one of the things they were seeing.
zZCycoZz@reddit
Yep, and the boxes disappeared after the good friday agreement. Not anything to do with 9/11.
Weary_Sheepherder895@reddit
Iāve never seen it. But if you are maintaining that the US was maintaining the IRA following the GFA then we can disagree.
Alarming_Eagle_8832@reddit
I donāt care if you disagree.
It happened. They allowed fundraising for terrorist organisations which were fighting their allies (The British).
This was New York in a bar at the start of the 2000s.
Your disagreement changes nothing.
MaritimeOS@reddit
Citizenry vs government. Sadly 2 different factions.
Sad_Math5598@reddit
Okay all shit-posting about the IRA aside, does anyone know an actual motive for this?
How does this affect prepping? What are the broader implications of this? Is this an isolated incident or is this related to the fuel protests they have going on there?
zZCycoZz@reddit
It doesnt affect prepping, it didnt even really affect belfast. Theres a reason our police stations look like fortresses.
Just brainwashed idiots blowing up things for no reason.
Its not an isolated incident but the fuel protests were unrelated.
Regular_Fruit_2907@reddit
It never stopped we've had police murdered and prison officers murdered by the same groups but it's been keep down in reporting, we had alot of attempts at IED's and car bomb attacks on off duty police as well as gun and bomb attacks on police patrols
AcidicAttorney@reddit
Hi from someone who lives in the region. From my understanding, no it is not an isolated incident - there was a similar attempted attack about a month ago where a delivery driver was forced to drive a viable device into a police station in Lurgan. However, it's unrelated to the fuel protests - PSNI Deputy Chief Con says they believe it to be the New IRA, so it's clearly sectarian dissident activity, not to do with the fuel prices.
Sad_Math5598@reddit
Thanks for your insight.
Surfer_Rick@reddit
Somehow the IRA returned
cbih@reddit
The IRA only calmed down because of 9/11
zZCycoZz@reddit
This is one of those things i hear americans say with no basis in reality.
The GFA was years before 9/11 and the actual reason they "calmed down"
mrfly2000@reddit
Well famously once the ira finished 9/11 they decided to dedicate their lives to peace
Weary_Sheepherder895@reddit
Thatās incorrect. GFA in 1998 signaled the end or at least the significant winding down of the IRA.

StoneAgePrincess@reddit
The English live in Northern Ireland do they? Spend two minutes googling Northern Ireland government or even who the people in Northern Ireland are that the IRA are trying to kill. Hint: itās not the English.
Barnwizard1991@reddit
Do you propose the entire population of NI leave? Almost 2 million people? Where should they go? A vast majority of those people also have roots and ties in the Republic... but yeah let's completely bend to the will of religious national extremists great idea
JayTravers@reddit
Forgive me, I understand allot of Irish violence can be linked to prior English oppression but what do they have to do with this particular instance?
Both nations people were pretty happy with the GFA and I see little reason to have those days to return.
