Worth looking at lease advice website for information on right to manage which sound what you’re looking to do. It’s a complicated process though

What's the lease advice website? I know it's a complicated process but I got a lot of time right now

It’s a government funded advisory for support on leases. Lots of resources about management companies, right to manage etc. You can ask them directly for advice but from experience it’s slow and generally advise you to get a solicitor specialising in property involved

You can book a free (government funded) appointment to discuss the process and get advice here -

If its too much for you to do alone there are companies that can do all the paperwork on your behalf for a fee

Yes i did it with my block of 40 flats so we could get control of the service charge. The leasehold advisory service were very helpful in advising what we needed to do. You can make an appointment to speak to them for free. In short, it involved us having to get atleast half of the block on board, signed a form to say they approved us managing the block. We had to appoint certain roles, director, treasurer etc so atleast 2 active members in the block involved in the management of it. That gave us control of which suppliers we wanted to use for repairs, cleaning etc. Best thing we ever did. Worth mentioning though, we chose to keep the property management company on to do the admin side of things (collecting service charges, liasing with suppliers) as its a big task. We just dictate which suppliers we want to use and approve or reject costs as we see necessary.

Have a look into community benefit societies and community land trusts (CLT’s). This is a real potential route into doing this. It would take a lot of organisation but I guess it would anyway so what do you have to lose lol
