Same! I fell asleep in my parents bed after watching the 11pm news and cheers would come on after. Also, my Dad loved Benny Hill and watched that with him too. No appropriate for my age.
Cheers was always bed time for me. Every time I hear the theme song, I have vivid memories of laying in bed in the dark and hearing it echo down the hall way on the TV in the living room
But I also thought the local Cal Worthington Ford car dealership commercials here in Southern California back in the 80’s/90’s used say “pussy cow, pussy cow, pussy cow” when it was “go see Cal, go see Cal, go see Cal.” 🙃🐮
Lol, the other place Cal Worthington had a dealership was Anchorage, Alaska where I grew up. Hearing the commercials in the 80’s I thought they were saying “goosey cow.”
It was Boo-Boo! And the Fruit of the Loom logo had a cornucopia, Sinbad was in the genie movie, and Mandela died in prison!! They changed the simulation!! Wake up sheeple!!!
I don't disagree, but it's not from thin air at least. They named the company after the dog, who was named after Ubu Roi: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubu_Roi
That had this at the end? Wild as Michael J. Fox was in Family Ties and it also had this title card at the end of the show. I wonder if he had something to do with linking up the production company with the producers of that show (I want to say he himself was one of them).
I was reading Flowers in the Attic and Silence of the Lambs at 11 or 12. Given to me by my aunt and read in the open at grandmas house. It was a different time!
I learned what a cock ring was due to reading Silence of the Lambs, but I think for a while, I thought it was a ring with a dick on it.
Ubu was the dog of the creator of Family Ties, Gary David Goldberg. His life was the inspiration for the show, him and his wife were running a daycare in Berkley after college, living the hippie life. I think I remember him saying this photo was taken in the park and he talked so fondly of him. And of course it was his voice saying, "Sit, Ubu, Sit. Good dog." Weird how evocative something like this is in our brains having watched this show as kids.
As a toddler, I would actually sit and bark if I heard this. My older siblings would convince me to do this and then laugh. Luckily I was just little and cute then. It didn’t continue very long, lol.
Picture resolution on old tube TVs was so bad, I thought that was a black bull with a ring in its nose (like Ferdinand) and I was so confused why they were telling it to sit. Asked my parents and they almost pissed themselves laughing then explained it was a dog.

Nah that came from yo momma jokes, everyone understood that.

I'm going to say no, because at least we can explain what "sit, Ubu, sit," means, where it comes from, and why we say it.

No, this is more like the modern "It's a good show!" and "That's some bad hat, Harry."

I fell asleep many nights watching Three's Company, then maybe some Cheers followed by my 8 year old favorite, Mash.
Pretty sure I was sleeping before the intro to Mash ended. Makes sense why I can sleep through anything now.
