Any movie from your country that has been a blockbuster hit recently? In Greece we just had “Kapodistrias” based on the first leader of modern day Greece quickly become the 5th most commercially successful Greek film of all time after its release last Christmas

It's pretty bad. It's only doing so well because rightwingers are going to see it on masse because they have this weird idea that leftwingers hate Kapodistrias and so they think if the movie does well financially they can own the libs

Rent free.

People just want to watch a normal Greek movie, and not the degenerate artsy fartsy shit that is synonymous with “Greek movie”. That’s why

No. It's actually pretty bad. It only did numbers in Greece, because Kapodistrias in a national hero.
I really hate how they use national heroes to make such shit movies.

Very mediocre. Sometimes it looks like a cheap production

As a greek person this film is utter dogshit

honestly, no matter some flawed elements of the movie, I LOVE the fact that it got people back in the movie theaters
baxulax@reddit
Sure. But the movie looks awful

Same . Given it is underfunded , it makes sense . What matters is that it rejuvenated the interest of ordinary towards Greek politics .

No, no blockbuster hits..here we are perpetually playing re-runs of Turkish soap operas to keep everyone fed with nonsense that keeps them docile.

If we talk about box office succeses on a national level, it would be Golden Boyz, directed by actor and comedian Mihai Bendeac.
Critically however, I saw some mixed results. Some say the cinematography was good but others criticised its weak plot.
But I will wait to see how Fjord performs. That one has Cristian Mungiu as director and has Sebastian Stan as leading actor. Though its more of a collab between Romania, Norway, France, Denmark, Finland and Sweden.
