Help me choose between 8GB RAM with 140Hz or 16GB RAM with 60Hz

Hey everyone, I’m building a setup focused on competitive Valorant and I’d like some advice.
My goal is to reach Radiant, I train seriously (aim, VOD review, etc.), and I’m putting together a PC with a Ryzen 5 5600G/GT using integrated graphics. From what I’ve seen, with 16GB of RAM it can reach around 200–250 FPS, but my current monitor is 60Hz (20”).
The question is: is it better to go with 16GB of RAM and a 60Hz monitor, or 8GB of RAM and a 144Hz monitor?
I’m worried that 8GB might cause stutters or performance issues, and I haven’t found many reliable benchmarks with 8GB. At the same time, I feel like 144Hz would give better smoothness, but with 16GB I’d have high FPS while still only seeing 60Hz.
What would you prioritize for true competitive play: stability from more RAM or smoothness from a higher refresh rate monitor?

The number one priority on a budget is not to buy something just to throw away. You can always upgrade your monitor in the future (for the price of a second monitor.) The upgrade path from 8GB of RAM involves replacing your 8GB stick with 16.

not true can just buy another 8gb stick later when prices are lower.

Honestly you might be fine with 8gb. I'm assuming 1080p.
Just make sure you don't have anything else opened like a web browser. Discord is probably fine.
With 8 gb you just can't do any multitasking. A game like valorant should be fine with 8gb.
144hz would make a huge difference.

this. you can easily upgrade ram later when it comes down in price. (just make sure you get another 8gb stick later and not 2x4gb)
144hz is mandatory for fps games now and the game will certainly run on 8gb of ram.

This is an awful choice.
16GB of ram is below bare minimum, you will use more. Though you can use a lightweight windows 10 or 11 installation.

Man these people saying that 16gb is bare minimum when I'm tryna game on a mfking optiplex 7440 which has 2x4gb DDR42133 i5-6500 and hd graphics 530.. bruh

I would say go for 16gb. 8gb will cause stutters and that’ll mess you up way more than refresh rate. you can upgrade to 144Hz later, but you can’t fix lag mid game.

Yes I think this is the best course of action, 60hz sucks but getting 8gb is worse. Better to get 16gb and stable framerates and save up for a monitor instead of vice versa

RAM you can upgrade easily later, but having to replace your monitor is much more costly.

In today’s market? Lol

A 1080p 144hz monitor is significantly less expensive than ram.

Depends on what the prices are where you live and what your budget is.
I bought 16gb ram for 50 euros and a 27inch 144hz 1440p monitor for 150.
