Anti-addiction casino where you never win positive amount of money, no matter how lucky or skillful

Suppose you're a very savvy and lucky player. In such case, at the very best, you win zero dollars. If you're less skillful and/or lucky, you win -1 dollar (i.e. you owe the house 1 dollar), or -10 dollars, and so on.
The idea is to discourage gambling addiction among players, as it's strictly impossible to make money even by being very skillful or lucky (some people believe in their luck)

Yeah studies show that, most gambling addicts ironically are addicted to the loss

Can you provide a link?
FriskyHamTitz@reddit
There's a bunch of you Google it

The first link is utterly unscientific. The second doesn’t support the claim.
FriskyHamTitz@reddit
I don't really care, I'm not here to prove anything to you. I was already hesitant to provide you links because your too lazy to do your own research.

There’s also side effects from drugs that will literally give you a gambling addiction.
There’s a Radiolab episode about this if you want a good listen. The woman in the story lost EVERYTHING. It’s worth a listen, and so are the rest of the stories in the episode.
Addiction is highly tied to the reward centers in the brain. Nothing about addiction is logical.

Friend I don't think you understand how casinos work. Every single game at a casino has negative odds. That means if you play long enough you're guaranteed to lose money. You cannot use skill to break-even.
Certainly you can make money if you get lucky. But that's exactly what keeps people coming back, the vain hope that their luck will change.
HimikoTogaFromUSSR@reddit (OP)
I do understand how casinos work, thank you very much. I know about long-term odds.
WitsBlitz@reddit
Meaning what, the games never pay out?
HimikoTogaFromUSSR@reddit (OP)
Yes
WitsBlitz@reddit
Why would anyone go to your fake casino then?
Aniso3d@reddit
Studies have shown that the difference between a gambling addict, and a normal person, is that the addict gets the same dopamine hit if they almost win ,vs winning. Whereas a normal person does not.
HimikoTogaFromUSSR@reddit (OP)
In the proposed casino they never win, only lose less
Mundane-Caregiver169@reddit
That’s fundamentally just a normal casino.
Awsomethingy@reddit
More like an arcade

I don’t think you understand how gambling addictions - or addictions in general - work.
There are gambling addicts that pay actual money to win in-game currency that is functionally worthless outside of the slot machine app they’re playing.
Uranium-Sandwich657@reddit
What if every roll is a win?
EmpireStrikes1st@reddit
That'd be a nice place to visit.
jaspersgroove@reddit
Then they’ll spend the rest of their life chasing that high.

But at the least harm would be reduced, IMHO. I would expect that it's harder (although still possible) to get addicted when you don't win real money
Gold-Mikeboy@reddit
it might reduce the financial incentive, but the thrill of playing could still keep some people engaged. The psychological aspects of gambling addiction can be complex and might not disappear just because the stakes are lower...
NaiveZest@reddit
I think that’s just called a casino, for most everyone.
Embarrassed_Coat4957@reddit
People wouldn’t play it. Gambling exists because of the chance to win, take that away and it’s just paying to lose with no thrill. Addicted players would just move to normal casinos instead
Exile4444@reddit
what? You just described a casino
Major-Check-1953@reddit
Gambling addicts would still go there. That is how addicted they are. They don't care how much money they lose.
thatsabruno@reddit
That's called a casino
TinyTailTulip@reddit
It's giving anti-delusion DLC for gamblers

The house always wins.
serenwipiti@reddit
This is part of what drives them to gamble. The losses are more impactful than the wins.
