It’s an Up thing.9
zenith2nadir@reddit
Looking like a character from Doug
GreenKiss73@reddit
I was thinking Pepper Anne
Zehdarian@reddit
Same artist apparently
username32768@reddit
Now I got the theme song in my head!
Thanks. (I mean that in a nice way)

Doooo do dooo do do do do do dooooo
kwakimaki@reddit
Cool Spot was 7up too, wasn't he/it?
Hades_Mercedes@reddit
Yup that game had no business being this good, what with it being a shameless soft drink commercial.
Allaplgy@reddit
It was literally one of the best SNES games. I liked it better than Contra III, and it was almost as hard.
Honorable mention to Tiny Toon Adventures Buster Busts Loose for best cartoon based crossover cash grab. The train level was epic.
BrittaUnfiltered67@reddit
The Sega Tiny Toon game was awesome too and different. A lot of cartoons and mascots had great games back then like QuackShot, Simpsons Arcade, Pirates of Dark Water, Duck Tales, Yo! Noid and then there was the unreleased Fido Dido video game that is available in certain circles online:
Allaplgy@reddit
I actually beat the Simpsons arcade as a kid, but only because I was at a birthday party and the machine glitched and was giving out free credits.
TomPalmer1979@reddit
Ahh yes, the 90s obsession with "ATTITUDE" in all media aimed at 18 and under.
lostcosmonaut307@reddit
XTREME!!!!!
disappointedCoati@reddit
I loved that game!
BrittaUnfiltered67@reddit
My Fido Dido doll smokes and has an earring.
BrittaUnfiltered67@reddit

My mom bought a whole case of Fido Dido hair mousse, which I used for ages as a teen. That shit sucked lol
No-Captain2150@reddit
I still have Fido Dido blankets.

this was up there with "bust a nut"
Decent-Unit-5303@reddit
Why haven't they tapped in to the 6 7 meme yet?
Bro with a 6 pack in each hand: 6 7 up!

I was just talking about how much I liked that campaign yesterday.

SAME TO ME!
Josephthebear@reddit
See it's catching on already
Responsible_Sound_71@reddit
I had this shirt, make 7 on the front and up yours on the back. I wore that thing out till it came apart at the seams
_buffy_summers@reddit
My sister used to say that all the time, and our mother would get so mad at her for it, but never sat her down to explain why it was bad. I hate adults who refuse to talk to their kids.
RanklesTheOtter@reddit
I am a huge fan of Sue Rose. 😎
lemonheadlock@reddit
I learned about her earlier this year. Cool that FD was created by a lesbian couple.
shibasurf@reddit
Wow I went to school with a girl who told me her uncle invented Fido Dido and I never questioned it, wtf.
RanklesTheOtter@reddit
Haha yeah she was full of it.
fimpAUS@reddit
Xmas one year drunken uncle took my fav 7up hat and added an "l" in permanent marker. Whole family giggling and snickering, I was completely oblivious. great core memory...
Realised years later the uncle was probably never sober at any point during my childhood. Amazed when he died from something other than alcoholism
libbystitch@reddit
For the sake of those below: Put the L in the middle of Dido
realitythreek@reddit
Please explain!
djsynrgy@reddit
Maybe I haven't had enough coffee yet, but, I don't get it..
shibasurf@reddit
Yeah I make an effort to comprehend every comment to keep myself sharp in my old age but sometimes I just can't.
_buffy_summers@reddit
I don't get it, either. I even googled '7up hat' to see if the 'l' being added made sense at all. It doesn't, because all of the 7up lettering is in white, and I'm assuming the permanent marker was black or red, since those are the most common colors. I guess the implied meaning here is that the '7' was supposed to resemble a penis? But again, the added 'l' would not have been in white. So I've got nothing.
PlsContinueMrBrooder@reddit
He had a name? Well today I learned.
Zeqhanis@reddit
Yep. And the cartoon character Pepper Ann started out in Fido Dido's comic. Same creator.
thrashcountant@reddit
No shit! I can see that now. At first, my thought went to Skeeter from Doug.
Automatic-Nature6025@reddit
I always hated that character. I dunno what it was, but Grrrrrrr!
thrashcountant@reddit
I could see why, he was kind of annoying with his sound effects, but I always respected him because he was absolutely Doug's most loyal friend.
TheDukeofArgyll@reddit
Is that before or after she started dating Tony Soprano
PlsContinueMrBrooder@reddit
Whaaaat!! That’s a cool factoid, thanks!

ninjadong48@reddit
Pretty sure that's Ryan Trahan...
PurplePlaidPajamas7@reddit
When I was a child, we went to Greece anx they had a PERFUME. Of course I got it, and smelled like 7UP. Or something.
FlySprySkydiver@reddit
This is bringing back a long forgotten memory of a box of some Fido Dido product that we bought at a liquidation store. I think it was hair gel or mousse or something.
Decent_Charge4892@reddit
Recently found this stamp during closet clean out.
Appropriate-Neck-585@reddit
Used to draw him all the time when class was getting boring
DandyLionsInSiberia@reddit
Slick advertising aside (Fido Dido was a masterstroke,) 7 Up never quite delivered on taste.
Even as a kid it always seemed a bit off. Faintly chemical, like fizzy dishwater brewed in a vat of old nickels. Drinkable.. yeah, but only when it was ice cold enough to numb your tongue and mask the actual taste . It also has that annoying soft drink trait of not really quenching thirst. If anything, it kinda made you thirstier..
Fun fact (for the nerds)
When it launched in 1929 .. it actually contained lithium citrate, one of those old “health” additives that got removed by 1948 once regulations tightened.
Launched during prohibition in the United States, -when soft drinks often leaned into medicinal claims, even if they weren’t quite selling calm in a bottle with alcohol firmly (legally) off the menu.
PhatBoyFlim@reddit
I styled my hair in 8th grade to match this guy and run for school VP. (I didn’t win.)
SemaphorePlay@reddit
Pepper Ann is an underrated gem btw
TomPalmer1979@reddit
Huh. As a little kid I always assumed the artist that made this was the same artist who made Doug. Guess not?
forbiddenrobot@reddit
I never liked 7-Up, thanks to only having it when I was sick, but I loved drawing this guy's head because I couldn't draw, wanted to, and this was easy!
thrashcountant@reddit
Totally reminds me of Skeeter from Doug

Competition for how many primary neon colors I could rock between my baggy shorts, my Fido Dido T, and stickers on my Powell Peralta deck
iameveryoneelse@reddit
I wonder if you could get one of these printed with Epstein that said “Pedo Dedo”
TrixieLaBouche@reddit
Was obsessed with him as a kid. My father forever pronounced it Fiddo Diddo.
IslandJack76@reddit
I used to draw him all the time at school, haven’t drawn in decades, but he’s one of my favorite cartoon characters, I’d brand his outfits, Nike top and sneakers, Fila, LA Gear, Travel Fox, Troop, Reebok and Adidas. I used to draw Bart a lot too, now I’m wondering if I still got it.
IslandJack76@reddit
4_max_4@reddit
The amount of drawing I did of Fido Dido growing up. One of the coolest campaigns.
DinnerSilver@reddit
There was also a saturday morning cartoon as well in the early 90's
Amy_Macadamia@reddit
I had matching Fido Dido shorts and top. The shorts were b&w checkered
Greedy_Street_891@reddit
Ha. Forgot about this dude. Was a big fan.
dianarawrz@reddit
Nice, reminds me of Pepper Ann’s animation style
Zeqhanis@reddit
And for good reason.
Gewitwel@reddit
And with Fido Dido came the best tagline
"It's cool to be clear, 7up"

Oh man I grew up in the states but moved to South Korea during the late 80’s early 90’s and THIS GUY WAS EVERYWHERE.

I had a blue hoodie. Wish I still had it!
