Ed is amazing, I bow to my king of tech cynicism.
ASIextinction@reddit
Has an insufferable grifting hack that has been wrong about the pace of AI innovation for 3 years and is slowing down regulation

TL;DW?

Oracle is most likely going to die
This is excellent news
CalligrapherSharp@reddit
AI is a bubble that's peaked and is about to burst. It can't be made profitable, and they've run out of investors with money to burn. The more heavily invested all these tech-oligarchs are, the harder they're about to go down.

"when you eat a buffet everyday you have no idea how much a meal is"
great conversation. full of this kind of "simple" comments about AI.
ansibleloop@reddit
They're charging like $5 per million tokens currently as well - I expect that to go up
ansibleloop@reddit
Oracle dying? So you're telling me the AI bubble has benefits?
MegalithBuilder@reddit
That will be the best thing for humanity - these companies are satanic at this point.
MayhemSays@reddit
I know this is gonna cook us all, but you cannot deny the appeal of OpenAI clobbering Oracle, and by extension TikTok and the upcoming Paramount-SkyDance-Warner-Discovery monster in the making.
linuslesser@reddit
Talking like Trump wont bail them out. Have you forgotten 2008?
leisurechef@reddit
I’m making popcorn & getting out my lawn chair
MayhemSays@reddit
You and everyone else. Orville Redenbacher’s is going to become the next $1T business
crashtestpilot@reddit
Popcorn....as a service.
ArcBaltic@reddit
I really doubt the powers that be let them actually fail. They'll just massively socialize the pain in a way that makes 2008 look like it wasn't that bad.
Tearakan@reddit
Eh, they won't be able to stop the bubble from popping this way. Any bailout by just printing money will have inflation hit weirmar Germany levels.
And that probably instantly destabilizes the globe and threatens everyone who is wealthy.
cosmic_kos@reddit
The ai hype train is coming to and end and they're looking for someone else to hold the bag. What's new. Typical boom bust cycle of capitalis. Crushing monopoly market economy for the average person and socialism for billionaires. But hey we got lgbtq people ruining the world apparently so let's focus on that. Absolutely insane how easily a large portion of the public is so easily distracted.
TalkingCat910@reddit
All this stuff is so problematic for society and for the economy I want it all to collapse despite the short term pain.

We can only hope.
Usernome1@reddit
Didn't they recently raise enough money to offset projected losses for something like the next 10 years? I don't think this bubble is popping anytime soon.
cosmic_kos@reddit
This sounds amazing lmao. Im rooting for open AI
matt95110@reddit
I don’t know Sam Altman or the Ellisons but I hope they all fail in the most spectacular way imaginable. The fact that Altman can even sleep at night is incredible.
ahmtiarrrd@reddit
You're lucky. I met Ellison very briefly when I worked at Oracle 30 years ago (i didn't know any better back then). I got a cold shock and my hair stood on end. If I didn't know better, I might have thought he was in league with the Devil.
uninhabited@reddit (OP)
well he started out being funded by the CIA, so close enough
matt95110@reddit
He looks like a ghoul so I’m not surprised.

The following submission statement was provided by /u/uninhabited:
SS: Ed Zitron is a financial analyst working on the AI/Datacentre bubble. He's generally negative about the entire sector and would fit in will on this sub. I didn't think I'd make it through all 40 mins of the interview but he's animated and it's a gripping saga with staggering sums of money and a prediction that Oracle could be taken out as well as some of the independent AI companies (Anthropic, Open AI). Collapse-related as we could be seeing a giant deflation of the AI bubble start later this year.
