Title Says it all
I know Chester Zoo has 'em but I was wondering if there were any others around the UK Currently.

Northumberland zoo has huge bats that smell terrible but eat fruit right beside you which makes up for the stench
destria@reddit
It's very small but Shepreth Wildlife Zoo has a bat tunnel.
Awkward-Tax102@reddit
Dudley zoo has a bat room, and it's in a castle too

Chester Zoo has a bat walkthrough, in near darkness. Quite cool, the bats fly low over your head.
snarkmaiden5@reddit
I used to love it in there. We used to stand there for ages watching them fly around when I was younger. They would get so close to you youd think they would almost land on you.
Chester zoo is one of the better places to see bats up close. Hard to top it

Guessing you're a moomins fan ? Love the moomin. Just finished reading the books to my kids. Even have moomins pyjamas š
Jesterstear99@reddit
We went in that.
Being of a Scientific nature, I'd done the lecture about not flapping your arms about because it confuses the bats and they might fly into you, so if you keep calm the bats will fly past you as it is hardly a survival trait to fly into things when you have fragile little bat bones.
Then I had a child in hysterics for half an hour as a bat landed on her head immediately we got inside.....

Cotswold Wildlife Park has a Bat Room. Purely Fruitbats but it always felt like the coolest place as a kid.
JudgeDredd200@reddit
You can pay extra and go in to hand feed the bats which was a great experience.
SgtTaco18@reddit
I never knew that! I guess that was cunningly hidden from me so I didnt pester my parents about it.
Original_Bad_3416@reddit
Pester them now!
VodkaMargarine@reddit
Impossible not to read "Bat Room" in Adam West's voice
Dr-Moth@reddit
There are also bats in the tropical bird house you can walk through, but they mostly sleep in the rafters.
KaylsTheOptimist@reddit
Northumberland zoo has bats that you can see
thelovelykyle@reddit
And they are the absolute fucking best. Get there for opening and go into the bat room first.
Then follow the keeper on their rounds feeding the animals.
HauntingTheVoid@reddit
London zooĀ
Spiritual_Tie3348@reddit
West Midlands Safari has bats I think, not been there myself for years though but I'm sure I read it.

Tropical World, in Leeds, had a nocturnal section with bats.

My kid hates the nocturnal room though so always have to rush through it

Toffee963@reddit
Colchester Zoo does iirc
gxb20@reddit
Longleat has a bat ācaveā you can walk through, my 2 year old did not love it
sc00022@reddit
My wife - who loves bats - thought it was incredible. They also have sloths in there.
AbjectGovernment1247@reddit
I came to mention this.
I personally love it, but I can see why not everyone does.Ā
SeveralFishannotaGuy@reddit
Wingham Wildlife Park near Canterbury.
ClydeB3@reddit
Funny enough I've been searching for zoos with bats recently too! Longleat has a bat cave you can walk through (I think they're Egyptian fruit bats?) and is the only one on my list I've been to.Ā
I've also heard a bit about Northumberland zoo (iirc they're one of the few places with Livingston's fruit bats, and they've posted videos about new bats arriving and being born there)
Shepreth wildlife park also has bats and does a nocturnal house experience.
Party_Advantage_3733@reddit
Wild Discovery at Ribby Hall near Blackpool has an enclosure with bats loose that fly around you and land on you and stuff. It's a very small zoo but has lots of cool stuff.
llschoolj76@reddit
Dudley zoo has some
TheRadishBros@reddit
Itās obviously a bit out of the way, but Amazon World in the Isle of Wight has bats.

mikedavd@reddit

Competitive_Ring82@reddit
Shepreth Wildlife Park has fruit bats in the Nocturnal House. The bats can fly very close to visitors.
Previous_Kale_4508@reddit
If you chat with the keepers at Chester they can probably tell you which other zoos have bats. Chester is one of the main conservation zoos and has links all over the world. A love chap I knew, who died during COVID, was a keeper there and was always very happy when people showed an interest. (His 'thing' was snakes, it used to creep my wife out!)
No_Initiative5355@reddit
Wild Discovery at Ribby Hall Billage near Preston has a brilliant walk-through bat cave. If you like, you can pay for a ābat experienceā where you get to feed the bats by hand. I love the place, but if you plan a visit, be aware that it is a pretty small zoo.
Silhouette_Sneezes@reddit
Knowsley Safari park has a bat walkthrough as well.
Key_Hearing5146@reddit
Besides Chester Zoo, youāve also got places like Drusillas, Longleat, Cotswold Wildlife Park, and Twycross where you can see bats too .
Magic_mousie@reddit
Bristol had large bats at its old site, I presume they were transferred.
coffeexcoffeex91@reddit
Twycross has bats and you can walk through the enclosure.
pompombum@reddit
Long leat has a bat cave! Itās pretty cool actually.
Working_Bowl@reddit
