Early-career developer considering working abroad — what’s the realistic path?

Hi everyone,
I’m a software developer from India with \~1 year of experience working on backend systems and mobile apps in a production environment.
I’ve been thinking about working abroad (initially considering Europe), but I’m trying to understand the reality before making any decisions.
From people who’ve already moved abroad or are working internationally:
- How realistic is it to get opportunities early in your career (\~1–2 YOE)?
- What challenges did you face when applying from outside the country?
- What would you do differently if you were starting again?
- Is it better to gain strong experience locally first before attempting a move?
I’m trying to take a long-term, realistic approach instead of rushing into things.
Would really appreciate your perspective.

After around 5 years of experience it gets better imo. Companies usually get less experienced folks in local market.
I moved when I had 7 years experience from India to Germany, thw challenges are to explain your motivation to move well and your work impact well than going deep in tech etc. For e.g. Why you dis what dis matters more than what you did ig that had no impact.
Yes, better to develop good skills and strong experience. You can move later too. Also take time to spend time with friends/family which you will miss once you move.
All the best

When you mention explaining your work impact, could you give an example of what that looked like in your case?
Right now most of my work is around backend systems and business features, so I’m trying to understand how to frame that in a way that shows real value instead of just listing what I built.
Also, would you say focusing on building deeper ownership of systems now (rather than just switching quickly) is the better approach?
Appreciate you sharing your experience.

In my case it was explaining what helped the end users or businesses without tech part.
I would say build deeper understanding of systems, how to communicate well both written and verbal.
