What's a childhood game you loved that today's kids never play?

I used to play a lot of dodgeball in gym but its not found in today's schools.

We played this great game called Smear, uhhh, the kid with the ball. More of a right of passage then a game but great fun nonetheless

I think "queer" is the word you're looking for.

Our neighborhood would play, one street vs another. Kids of all ages played. I was one of the younger ones so I would be the sacrificial distraction while the bigger kids tried to get across.
Upper_Economist7611@reddit
Yes! Me too. Always one of the sacrifices! But I almost never got to stay up late enough to play, so I was always a big deal when I was allowed!
oldschool_potato@reddit
Those finger crunching little carts you either laid on or sat on. When we sat on them we played crabs with a giant ball and you had to kick it in the goal
samizdat5@reddit
Oh yes I remember that - like square skateboards? Those were fun.
oldschool_potato@reddit
Yes!

Tetherball! I loved playing, a lot of times by myself. I don't have kids, so I don't know if it's still a thing or not.

Elastics - mostly popular with girls.
Elastic band stretch between two players legs. and third one jumps in and moves the elastic with their legs singing a rhyme while moving the elastic in rhythmically.
Haven't seen it in decades.
BrandyBunch805@reddit
I think we called this Chinese Jumproap
Lower_Classroom835@reddit
We called it Mississippi, but there are different names and Chinese Jumproap seems to be the most known. I spent so much time playing it as a kid in the 70s.

Flashlight tag through the neighborhood. Kick the can. Red Rover possibly. Cops/Robbers or Cowboys/Indians with sticks we found as weapons.

We only had one day of dodgeball in gym, but we were allowed to play it every day at recess, outdoors.

Life (board game)
MommaGuy@reddit
Brought our kids up on family game night. Still have Life, Monopoly and Stratego. Our oldest still wants to play Stratego when he comes to visit.
anotherusername989@reddit
I still have Life and Monopoly, too!
MommaGuy@reddit
We kept a few others too like Pay Day, Scrabble and Blockus.
LeighofMar@reddit
Handball. We just hit the balls against the wall with our open hands, no racquets. I haven't seen anyone play like that since I was a kid.
Business_Plenty_2189@reddit
With those big red rubber balls. Played that every day.
