I am currently using a 3070 and would like to upgrade to a 4070 super. My PSU is a Corsair 550W Power supply.
AMD Ryzen 7 5700x3D
32GB Ram DDR 4 with 4 Ram sticks
should I upgrade my PSU or is it totally fine?
I mean both GPUS are 220 TDP

i've used 550w PSU for 4070 for over a year w/o any issues. 4070s tiny bit more power hungry, but you should be fine if your PSU is good quality

Get a quality PSU like a RM750x or RMe with the 12VHPWR cable. Saves from using the adapter,7-10 years warranty and much better component protection and safety features.

I would upgrade the PSU tbh. Because of the native 12v-2x6 cable and I would get atleast a 650w psu for that combo.
Get a decent 750w or 850w psu that is A or B Tier atleast. Let me know your budget and country so that I can suggest you one.

550? 750 might a bit better even for 3070.

For both of them a 650W PSU or at least a high-quality 600W one is recommended, so I wouldn't be comfortable using just 550W. But as you say they have very similar power usage so if you haven't had issues with the old one I don't see why you would start having issues now. However, I'd still suggest upgrading the PSU, just to be on the safe side, if there's anything in a PC I'm not messing with it's the PSU.
