Rename parallel parking “Colinear Parking” and angle parking “Parallel Parking”

Because both parking arrangements are parallel, it lacks specificity. However, rays that share the same vector but not the same endpoints are colinear, making the language specific.

You have tried to go so deep, you missed the structure of the nomenclature.
Parking is defined in relation to the direction of travel. Thus Parallel, and Angle. The one that need changing is “straight in” it should be perpendicular parking in order to be consistent and accurate.

Already addressed this in another comment.

This is the most “technically correct but socially illegal” idea I’ve seen today.
RE_Towers@reddit
Except it's not technically correct, because colinear parking would be when you move from one parking space in a line of spaces, all of which are parallel to a street, to another space in that same line of parking spaces.
It's pedantic, trying to be overly specific, but fails to actually understand the term it's trying to correct.

If you take parallel parking to mean parallel to other cars, then almost all parking is parallel. But parallel parking means parallel to the street, not to the other cars.
JakeDuck1@reddit
Parallel parking means when you need to get into a space that you are parallel to. When you turn into a parking space you end up parallel to the lines but you were never parallel to the space.

I thought this was crazy ideas, not r/explainconceptspoorly. Yes, it’s relative to the direction of travel. By defining it as the geometry of the spaces, it still precludes confusion because colinear spaces require that it be parallel to the street. There is the edge case of valet colinear spaces that are also parallel (stacked n deep rows), but the original nomenclature doesn’t solve for that either.

I think you underestimate how dumb the average person is.
Most probably don't know what colinear means or probably a ray vector.
Your idea is crazy and dumb.

Yeah this should be posted in something like crazyideas instead of here, the perfectideas sub
MonkeyBrains09@reddit
The subs description does state it's for crazy ideas that are the perfect solution to a problem. Not crazy ideas that make things worse.
DarkArcher__@reddit
So, by defining it as something it isn't, it becomes wrong. Magical.
