Whoever requested disco inferno to be played must be feeling a bit shit this morning
rockandrollmark@reddit
Too soon and in poor taste given that fire has just ravaged a local business.
OutsideImpressive115@reddit
Oh no I bet the brick and wood's feelings are devastated
laurence1193@reddit
Yes I was deeply upset reading that joke, thank you for saying something.
Inevitable_Bid8719@reddit
Nobody was hurt calm down lol
Psychedelia_Smith@reddit
I maybe best not add that as well as the fire fighters, a bunch of indigenous Americans, a crew of construction workers and a load of cowboys turned up to help with the fire?
Humour is a coping strategy. We can still feel compassion for all affected!
nuttydogpoo@reddit
Is PP an actual Tudor or just faux?
If so I do hope they had decent insurance. Sure we’ll find out if a block of flats is there next year.
Joshthenosh77@reddit
I worked in a nightclub that had a fire I Asked about insurance , we had a 1 million pound excess
kool_kats_rule@reddit
I think it was a pub back in the mists of time. Half timbered doesn't have to mean tudor - there's plenty of pubs in the area that are newer (but still old) and half timbered.
Notagelding@reddit
It was called the kilrush
Mkandy1988@reddit
Green Grass club too, I used to go a lot before it became mainstream, couldn’t bear the place after that.
Br0kenCompass@reddit
I keep reading this is the third fire in 24 hours. That the church in Fenny had a fire and a group of garages in Stantonbury. Hopefully a coincidence given fires happen everyday rather than someone starting the fires on purpose.
kool_kats_rule@reddit
The church in Fenny is extremely close to Pinks.
catetheway@reddit
Not close enough for embers to travel and light up a mostly brick building.
Sorry I’m from California and even wood and paper houses (the kind we have due to earthquakes) that far apart would not be at risk.
Far-Wear-3646@reddit
I'm sorry to hear that, but that's not what the comment above was getting at. They're assuming that it was a spate of arson, not that the fire spread from church to club.
antitrollpatrol@reddit
Someone has been arrested for suspected arson

My mates going to be so disappointed. He lived round the corner. I used to call it his all night buffet.
Kudos to the management though for evacuating so well. Saw one vid of the fire inside and it could have been so much worse.
So hope they can rebuild again. I feel for the owner who’s now lost their home and the staff.
Silly_Back_8672@reddit
What does all night buffet mean?
2JagsPrescott@reddit
They're sex people, Lynn
Psychedelia_Smith@reddit
Oh I read that in the voice 🤣

Damn, haven't been in years but one of the only good clubs in MK back in the day. At least when the downstairs was open!
Nice_Cry_3340@reddit
Let me preface this by saying I'm not from MK, though I do have loved ones who are and who, like me, are queer. I'm also not a regular Reddit user, so I can't make this its own post due to the minimum karma requirement to post on here.
To put it mildly, being queer has been rough for the last decade or so. Massive leaps forward in trans visibility have been met with brutal pushback and punishment, with transphobia particularly becoming a bipartisan position in government. This, in turn, has fostered a return to some homophobic attitudes that I (and hopefully you) had hoped we left behind a long time ago.
Things are scary right now for us. They have been for a long time. When one of us is attacked, we all feel it. When one club is terrorised, we all feel the terror. When something like this happens, it means that every queer person in that community is looking over their shoulder, not knowing who to trust or who wants to hurt them. Our cemeteries are full of people who lived and died without ever coming out of the closet and this is why.
If you want to push back against this (and I sincerely hope that you do) then something as small as a pride flag in the window can make an absolute world of difference. It may sound silly but violent bigotry hinges on the assumption that they're speaking for the silent majority. You can make it clear exactly which side you and your community are on.
Beyond this, material support is extremely helpful. There is no better way to help than going to your local queer community organisation and asking them what it is they need. There's also, of course, national charities like Mermaids who are always in need of donations.
These moments are never just moments. They're the eruption of an undercurrent of hate that's been building up pressure for a long time. It's only by loudly and unequivocally rejecting hate that we can collectively change things. Thank you for reading, and I wish the absolute best for all of you.

What a piece of shit.
Extension-Truth@reddit
Apparently many years ago before it was this club it had a big fire. Glad no one was hurt, and I think it’s a shame for the job losses and local nighttime economy but I’m not too fussed if it doesn’t reopen tbh. I don’t think it’s as particularly great for gay people like it was in the past and I would much prefer smaller venue(s) for the community elsewhere.

For who? You know something extra you'd like to share with the group?
Dull_Hawk9416@reddit
It’s not rocket scientist and wouldn’t even be the first MK night club to do this.
Newhalen661@reddit
Pleased to hear everyone vacated safely. I have friends who were visitors.
AtoGho@reddit
Oh wells
vip_scorp1on@reddit
God protect us, and he let this happen.
miltonkeynes-ModTeam@reddit
r/miltonkeynes does not allow hate
FinchMandala@reddit
It hasn't been a proper queer venue in forever since the straights swarmed over. Leave it out.
rockandrollmark@reddit
If you’re going to be a bigot at least learn to spell, moron.
butthole_network@reddit
What is it with bigots being so badly educated that they can't even spell their insults/references correctly?
ariadnevirginia@reddit
They need to reopen The Point
kool_kats_rule@reddit
Well, yes, but it's not relevant here.
ariadnevirginia@reddit
No, but it's worth pointing out
Steviebmagic@reddit
A 51 yr old male has been arrested on suspicion of starting a fire with club goers inside.
CompSciStudent_idk29@reddit
I really hope that it comes back. So much character and I never got to go
chainey44@reddit
Not doubt it was well insured
Heavy_P@reddit
Devastating news for the city. We don’t have a nightclub anymore and this place was an institution
butthole_network@reddit
Pinks is an MK institution. This is a tragedy for the area, let alone for the community that they supported.
Such an accepting, fun, well run venue that was popular with a spectrum of crowds for good reason. Really glad that everyone got out unscathed.
When they rebuild, the reopening will be immense.
Sleezy-Slowpoke@reddit
Just fell to my knees in the Dobbies parking lot
Extension-Truth@reddit
I’m in Frosts currently and people are dropping like flies 😢
i-am-modo@reddit
Never been but I know how important this place is to a lot of people. Very upsetting. Hopefully it can be rebuilt and isn't lost.
fingu@reddit
Unfortunately I don't think it'll come back - some Fridays and Saturdays there in recent times have been ghost town dead. Shame though, because it's arguably the last 'proper' night out left in MK
smolbiteyfish@reddit
Devastating news!
