Ah I had the same card, get a 9070/9070XT. Or Nvidia 5070/Ti if you don't trust AMD ;) I love my 9070XT!

5090 is the best when decided solely based on conditions you provided, . You need to be more specific on what you want to do with "1080p card" and how long it means by "future proof". You also want to give us a budget.

This, and what are you coming from (cpu & gpu) and what is your budget?

If you have a i7 4790k 16GB ddr3 + 970GTX, just buying a 3070ti would improve your experience and can catch for a few year in 30fps medium

If you have a 3080 and an AM4 CPU, going to a 7800X3D + a 5070 will make you comfortable for a few year at 60fps high

In booth case a few year is 3 guaranteed, reasonably probably 5, and maybe 7 if you really push it and lower the quality the last years
