Cyclists, what are your "yeah im gonna walk this bit" roads?

I've started cycling so I can use the gym in town, 5 mile route. it's mostly through parks and on quiet residential streets but there's a bit where I have to go through a busy 30 zone with no bike path and pretty poor road quality. I've just been walking my bike along the pavement for that section

First rule of cycling is keep yourself safe and if it means walking a bit, so be it, as it's better to get where you want in one piece.
I'm surprised you only cycle to your gym, why not go to areas where you don't have this problem and cycle more there to build you experience and, who knows, you might not have to go to the gym to be fit.

I'm 66 yrs and been going up on the pavement since 1965. Can only remember being told to get off by a cop once when I was about 40; he got the finger!

None. They will use their bikes as a weapon against cars and pedestrians alike, protected by their own perfect sense of infallibility and entitlement. Don't you know that cyclists are the most perfect form of humanity yet?

Fences. Styles. Stairs. No cycling zones.
Can't remember the last time I chose to walk, when it was possible and legal to cycle.

Yeah, why would you walk with your bike. Just ride it.
If you’re with friends who don’t own bikes, either meet them there or get better friends.

A few weeks ago i started cycling again after a few years. I decided, because i make poor decisions, to buy it 25km from home and cycle or been as it was a journey I've made before.
I rode about 2km before i realised it was a really bad idea, i cycled, got off, pushed and occasionally rested. It took 5hrs to get home, normally it would be 1.5hrs at a relaxed pace. Annoyingly just as i was getting used to cycling again i fell ill for 2 weeks so I've been set back a bit but hopefully I'll be cycling the journey regularly by June.

Would never choose to walk with my bike. And I wouldn’t ride on footpaths.
So if I got to the edge of a park with a no-cycling footpath straight across I’d cycle the longer way round.
Bikes are for riding from A to B.

I don’t think I’ve never done this because a road is too busy or lack of a bike lane, but I have done because a hill is too steep or when google maps decides to send me down a ‘shortcut’ which is actually pedestrian only.
Over-Language2599@reddit
There are hills I walk down because they're too steep, but with an ebike I can go up anything. I did anyway on an analog bike because I had the gears changed for a very low first gear.

There's a right turn onto a busy main road where it's quicker and easier to walk along the pavement for a few metres and use the pedestrian crossing.

For me I try and avoid the roads where basically it becomes tight (double parked cars mostly) just because the number of close/clipping passes is too high.
Luckily for getting into the city for me I can do most of the way on a fully off road cycle path.
If I'm going cycling out in the countryside I avoid the main and secondary routes to popular places and to escape the city get out before most people wake.

The A47 near Collyweston. I've ridden just about everywhere in this area, but twice I've found myself around that bit and was scared out of it.
There's no easy, safe way (that I know of) to get over to Kingscliffe side. One time I got off and walked through the grass verge with the nettles. Another, I found a farmer's field, so I rode through three of them. Then I spotted a gap in the trees that led to a trail, so I went through and enjoyed the woodland ride, until I saw the hunting stand. At the end there was a sign saying it's private property too.

A back road near me has a ford with a small footbridge that is quite narrow and only has a rail on one side. Never trust myself to ride over it without going over the side of the bridge.
Whithorsematt@reddit
Can't imagine walking because of traffic.
Only reason I would walk my road bike is if I cant pedal it, which would mean a hell of a lot of mud or water on the road or I'm lost and have gone down a track that is too rough.

Look Keo road cleats… not walking anything mate.
Immediate-Escalator@reddit
When those first came out I was confused as to why Look had called their new pedals ‘Ken’

Bristol, most of it.
Laescha@reddit
I had lots of these when I first started out, now it's just one multi lane roundabout which is a cyclist collision black spot and has a ghost bike on it
ivymae_@reddit
Those bloody sketchy no-bike-lane roads with traffic flying past and potholes everywhere are an instant “yeah I’m walking this” for me. Not worth the stress when a 2-minute walk keeps it chill.
ToriaLyons@reddit
Can't walk much due to chronic joint problems (my slow cycling is pretty decent), so it's mostly about conditions - glass or ice or deep water.
For glass, I often carry it or stop after and check the tyres.
