Hmm. Private property predating legislation being arbitrarily confiscated. Fuck me some of these states have really dumb populations that roll over and put up with this shit. Folks have lost the plot and seem to have forgotten that this country was founded to get away from this level of government tyranny/overreach. I’m not defending this little 14yr old shithead or his pos parents, I’m all for accountability, but as with EVERYTHING in life, it’s not a black and white this or that scenario. In typical fashion New York and California lead the way in legislative overreach demonstrating a clear lack of critical thinking ability on the part of the elected officials. I remember when they banned automatic firearms, there was at the time an exemption for folks who owned those types of guns before the law went into effect. Does NOT matter in the slightest what you think/ how you feel, the reality is that this is nothing more than theft of personal property by our own government. Where does it stop? What happens when someone in power decides they like your house? Your car? Whatever you have that they want? They just come take it? Sounds extreme and yet there is a video above YOU JUST WATCHED of your government doing just that. Some student will come out of class to find their shit stolen. No different than if California passes anti ice laws with no grandfather clause and you get off work wander out to get in your car only to find out the state has towed it and had it crushed and will probably even have the audacity to send you a bill because your tax dollars don’t cover it since they blow that money on stupid shit. Fuck your hard working ass for not buying electric I guess…yayy freedom? Yayy America? Fuck where this country is headed and fuck all you dipshits that are far left or far right. You’re both idiots.
Certain points of your argument I agree with. The government can get a bit highhanded at times. And, yes, people should oppose this behaviour. But you can't blame people for allowing this, when parental supervision is non-existent in so many cases.
I find it so ironic that people are held accountable for their dogs' behaviour, and yet not for their kids'.
And I might add that ebikes are way more restricted in most European countries.
Yeah, at no point in time do I care about how stuff is restricted in European countries. This is America, we bounced from Europe so we could breathe not turn around and emulate how crap is done on that side of the world. Does that mean everything is better. No. Obviously not, but I’ll take how it used to be before our school system completely failed several generations into being weak soft sheep that have been coerced into thinking the government is here to feed them, burp them, wipe their butts, and hold their hand every time they cross the street. Uncle Sam is roommate that has been unwelcomly forced wayy too far into our lives these days. We are well past due to start pushing back.
Enough about that, seizure of property is just so ridiculous I can’t believe folks roll over and put up with it but then they have put up with all the rest of the colossal mismanagements and continued to re-elect the same criminals that are fucking them so I guess they deserve it. Just hate that it’s like someone jumping up and down in a big pool of wet shit. It splashes all over the rest of us 48 states.
A person should indeed care about what is occurring in other countries. These things have an effect on Canadians and Americans. Many times I have seen something occurring in a foreign country which is 'adopted' by Canada or the US. Sometimes this is a good thing. But, of course, other times it's not.
I am a dual citizen (Canada and USA) so I usually include both countries in discussions such as this.

Oh yeah only cars can break the law and kill people, things I see daily...
Trash cans in bike lanes
Cars parked in bike lanes
Cars trying to run you over if you're in a bike lane (already happened to me once, settled out of court)
Idiots that don't know the rules of the road telling you to get on the sidewalk
Speeding
Texting while driving (same level of impairment as drunk driving)
Lots more
Fuck cars, and fuck these cherry picked ebikes bad fake news
