I honestly have no clue about pc gaming but ever since my friends all switched over to it for gaming I need to join them. I’ve heard that building a pc is cheaper and better than a prebuilt so me and my friend who has a pc and built his were going to build me one. I’ll cut to the chase, my budget is $900. I don’t just want to buy cheap parts to where gameplay isn’t good so, I want good quality parts to where I won’t be dropping bank into it, but I’ll be able to play smoothly.
Budget- $900 (but can go higher if needed)
Country-US
Peripherals- I have an UltraGear monitor if that matters it has display port and hdmi.
Games- Rust, Rainbow Six Siege,

Hello. I'll tell you the best way to go with a CPU and GPU thats the best you can get for the budget youre at.
The rest of the guys can tell you everything else probably better than I can.
CPU AMD Ryzen 5 7600X $165 on Amazon
GPU AMD Radeon RX 6600XT go on Ebay for this. Look for sellers with hundreds of transactions and 95% or better rating. And look to pay around $200. It will be used.
I had this combo for two years. Its surprising how good they both are.
Your next viable bump up on the GPU is the RX 9060XT 16gb. Thats $450 new.
If you can spring for the extra $200, the 9060 fps in games vs the 6600 will look like
9060 78 fps
6600 60 fps
Sometimes the 9060 will beat it more. Plus it puts out better display. But you will be able to play all the games you want with no problems.
And with your budget, the RX 6600XT is what you want IMO.

So you guys think I need 32g of ram or is 16 fine for rust
bankabl@reddit
Recommendation gonna change if your near a micro center as y can get a mobo combo with ram a decent CPU and motherboard for 500 or less but if you don't have one you could easily pay 500 just on ram atm 😅
VisualGlass6535@reddit (OP)
Bro no way
bankabl@reddit
I mean I googled ddr 5 32ggb and first listing was 550 xD 😝 note it was high end ram but lowest I saw was 300
VisualGlass6535@reddit (OP)
Seriously dude im looking for the cheapest ram with 32g since im playing rust but the cheapest im finding (that wont be a horrible) is like $240 it’s ridiculous.
bankabl@reddit
You only need 16 for rust I wouldn't aim for 32 unless your doing something heavy like star citizen

I see your an hour away from microcenet get this https://www.microcenter.com/product/5007290/amd-ryzen-5-7500x3d,-msi-b850m-vc-pro-wifi-am5,-gskill-flare-x5-series-16gb-ddr5-6000,-computer-build-bundle It's a low end am5 but you can upgrade CPU in the future as needed You can get a nvida 5060 or 9060 amd for around 300-400 at microcenter (currently at 600 for this build ) https://www.microcenter.com/product/698068/asus-nvidia-geforce-rtx-5050-dual-dual-fan-8gb-gddr6-pcie-50-graphics-card

And that covers most expensive parts you can pick any case you want and get a cheap cooler personally I the the thermright peerless assassin for 40-50
https://www.microcenter.com/product/689528/corsair-rme-series-rm750e-750-watt-cybenetics-gold-atx-fully-modular-power-supply-atx-31-compatible (power supply for 85) at about 880 before taxes
You still need a case but I'll let you pick what you think looks cool

Now to set everything up after watch some YouTube videos also DONT spend 100 bucks on windows you can get keys for like 5-10 bucks online you also just download windows and use it for awhile without a key but it does annoy you about it

unfortunately the market is just really bad for those bang for buck budget builds and sub $1000 without being near a microcenter is tough especially if u don't want cheap parts. Id suggest going with used or letting us know what the most u want to spend is
VisualGlass6535@reddit (OP)
What would you suggest my budget should be? All my friends said they spent around 800-1200
No_Spare1827@reddit
yeah like I said 900 and even 1000 is tough 1100-1200 is a much better spot if u want a pc hat has some longevity to it. u can use this site https://pcpartpicker.com/ to get a list of parts together and the site will automatically check compatibility and compare prices from various online retailers
this is an example of one of those lists https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kjmtph feel free to use this or customize it to ur preferred budget or style. if u have questions feel free to ask
VisualGlass6535@reddit (OP)
Alr thank you 🙏. Do you have any specific things you would suggest I should get or should I check out the link you made?
No_Spare1827@reddit
definitely consider the link I sent, they are the best parts in my opinion that u can get in that price range that are worth while
VisualGlass6535@reddit (OP)
Question. What is a gpu and do I need one because I don’t see one on the link.
No_Spare1827@reddit
on the 2nd link of the 2 I sent there is a 9060XT 16gb an AMD GPU
VisualGlass6535@reddit (OP)
Also am I going to need to buy the operating system?
VisualGlass6535@reddit (OP)
Thank you 🙏
VisualGlass6535@reddit (OP)
I can only see the cpu, cooler, motherboard, memory, storage, video card, case, and power supply
VisualGlass6535@reddit (OP)
There is a micro center an hour away from me would it be worth going there
Utahguy69@reddit
It's definitely worth the drive to Michigan l Micro Center if one is near you. Have you CC ready! 🤣
aragorn18@reddit
You can get some amazing deals at Micro Center. For example: https://www.microcenter.com/product/705863/powerspec-g250-gaming-pc

I’ll send you the build I made on Christmas. It’s perfect for me, I’ve literally played more games on it than you can think of. at the time I spent between $850-1000, not sure the exact amount. I used new egg and zip (buy now pay later.)
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/ShortButSturdy/saved/#view=7CZdrH
To be honest I got a decent bit of things refurbished from new egg. I will say things like memory are going to jump the price A LOT along with the GPU. Also DO NOT BUY REFURBISHED POWER SUPPLIES. I’d not buy used memory either but everything else is up to you. You can probably find the CPUs cheaper on EBay, and I’d look at FB market place and eBay for cases, ton of used cases to save your money.
expatfella@reddit
The annoying thing about building right now is ram prices. If not for that issue you could play those games for probably $600.
I'd ballpark the parts like this...
Case for $50 Motherboard for $100 CPU $150 GPU $300 PSU $50 RAM $200 SSD $150
Realistically, those are old games so you could get away with a Second hand $100 gpu.
You can do it cheaper if your able to reuse parts, or are willing to take a few budget parts. Like a $75 5500 CPU or a $60 Mobo.
VisualGlass6535@reddit (OP)
Okay thanks man
VisualGlass6535@reddit (OP)
What is a microcenter
New-Reception-3291@reddit
Google to see if one is near you! I saved around $400 buying a bundle from them
aragorn18@reddit
An electronics store that has great deals on PCs and components.
aragorn18@reddit
Are you near a Micro Center?
