Rain and snow season.

So at 350 pounds I'm in the process of buying a velotric Fold 1 plus and as a bronx resident I have to worry about theft and steep hills which I don't mind putting the bike in my apartment but I'm scared about the steep hills because when I mean steep they are fucking steep. Knowing this what is my options? Do I thug it out or find someone else to do?
(Reference to the hills I'm talking about)

Snow and ice shouldnt be a problem as long as you give the city a day or two to clear and salt the roads, just go slow and use your low gears.
I say this as a NYC resident who didn’t wait for the roads to be cleared, wiped out on the snow a bunch (on level ground), and broke my mid-drive motor as a result.
You can air down your tires a bit for better traction, but that also increases risk of flats.

Oh, that sounds risky. What PSI is best for this?

Some electric bicycles have a power-assist mode, allowing riders to push them forward effortlessly.

Lol as if most here aren't throttle jockeys running hub drives

Broke your motor? How?
I delivered year round on my front hub bullitt. Rain, snow, ice and heated tar in the summer-no issues.
This is my current setup with rear hub motor.

Dont get me wrong, b/c hey your taking the steps to improve things but youre going to be doing alot of pedaling power wise. Not to mention that your range is going to be way lower than advertised, Just get it and ride..man

from highbridge. All you need to do is slightly hold the breaks while descending, you’ll know how much pressure to apply by adjusting the grip with the speed, that’s all.
It’s a great workout to go up the hill and it’ll take sometime but you’ll become more fit the less reliant you are on the battery to get up those hills.
They’re pretty easy once you feel the breaks on your bike.

This… there is an absolute bastard of a hill near where I live, I'd swear it's almost vertical and about 1/3 mile long. I dug out my old bike (non electric)during the lockdown period, after years of gathering dust in the garage. I couldn't even manage 20 yards for the first week or so, but every attempt I got a little bit further. 3 months later I conquered it. It's easier on an mid drive E bike, and I don't feel like my legs are falling off when I get to the top , but it still takes some effort.

For nyc residents you should check out upway, they sell good used ebikes. People say middrives are slightly better on hills. I think the fold 1would be ok, most likely the bike will just gizzle battery so that would impact your total range for any ride.
If you are bringing a bike in an out of a nyc apartment I actually prefer a lighter bike to a big folding bike. I have a soltera 2.5 and I really like it.

Will do, thank you. Also, is the 2.5 better? I have an elevator in my building, but the Velotric folds.

I had letric that folded, so it's not the same at the bike you were looking at. But I found The way it folds is so unwieldy I found myself never folding. It crazy to try to move it when it's folded since you can't roll it anymore. It was a beast and got me everywhere I need to be but was more bike than I needed. The soltera is more of a traditional bike and that worked great for me. I do like 80% pedal assist. I keep it locked in my apartment hallway and just being the battery in the charge.
They all seem pretty comprable between the 2, 2.5.
Happy riding, take it slow and enjoy the ride.

had the same exact experience as you. larger folding bikes are nice to have for occasionally transporting or storing, but it's definitely not something you want to fold every time you want to use it
