How is your Internet connection and which part of the country are you in?

Absolutely terrible signal here in Cheshire. It cuts out every hour or so and takes hours to upload a short youtube video.

Cheshire is a big county. I am in Nantwich in Cheshire with EE and haven't got a problem.

We have BT 500mb fibre broadband. We're in a village in one of the South Wales valleys. It is very consistent.

ISP: Virgin
Ethernet: 930Mbps down, 95Mbps up.
WiFi: 527Mbps down, 50Mbps up
Never had any issues with it.

4G? 5G? ADSL? FTTC? FTTP? StarLink?
Wifi or ethernet?

How big is your house and how many load-bearing walls does it have inside? That's going to absolutely kill your wifi signal.

An apartment lol

Wifi is local to your home from your router, that doesn't tell us anything about your ISP or your connection to them.
You obviously aren't very clued up on It, so thousands of purple telling you data that you don't understand and wouldnt be relavent of you did isn't going to help your issues.
Talk to your ISP.

I'd make sure the WiFi wasn't the issue before I started chasing the ISP. You can get WiFi analyzer apps on your phone and do a few things that might help. First check to see if the channel you're using is being used by other networks, if so then switching to a less busy one can work wonders. Next check the signal strength. Think stone walls, or anything dense or metallic can cause areas with bad signal. Mesh WiFi systems (I have Deco) can act like repeaters spreading your WiFi out around the house more effectively.
If you're still not getting your advertised speeds speak to your ISP or look to switch providers

Mine used to be great, moved across the road into a new place and the connection is awful, literally 1 minute away from my old place on the same exact road but the connection inside of this place is just so bad man, I have to walk into the hallway sometimes just to download a song or to get my video to start playing again, as for some reason in my bedroom the connection is so bad and same goes for phone signal, I get 1-2 bars in my room but step 3 steps into the hallway and near enough full bars on my actual phone signal if not full bars, strange stuff.
jimicus@reddit
That's because your wifi signal comes from the router your ISP gives you.
It's heavily impacted by the size of the house and walls between you and the router.
A mesh network is probably your best answer - some ISPs will include the equipment if you ask.

My Internet connection has been shit for a few days on my phone I don't have WiFi so it's mobile data only I'm with O2 and it's only just started I've been living here for roughly 2 years and never had this problem before.
indigomm@reddit
West London. Drops out every few days. And then there is unannounced network maintenance every couple of weeks.
But fibre looks like it is coming at last.

Hampshire, in what was once a village but is now part of a town - since they sprawl-built all the way out to here. Been here 10 years.
Virgin FTTC, cable for the last few 100m to us. 200 down / 20 up, pretty reliable - if you don't use their DNS. I WFH on very interactive tasks and maybe only lose connections once a day. Happy overall, though it's a bit expensive at £60 pcm including a phone line. Generally more reliable than my neighbours on BT, etc.
If you're talking about "signal" - do you mean mobile? Despite being at the top of a hill with a mast almost in sight, our 3G signal is poor downstairs but OK upstairs, 4G is OK, forget 5G. When a line-based carrier goes down, mobile internet is near useless due to the onslaught...
snwg@reddit
You are being ripped off. I'm currently paying £19pm for M350 with VM. It looks like your out of contract, try calling up retentions.
Koda614@reddit
1Gb symmetrical, rock solid and apart from a few minutes disconnection in the middle of the night for network maintenance or software updates on my router the connection is rock solid and hasn’t went off since I got it.
ISP: Brawband Router: Amazon Eero 6E Pro Location: Newcastle
OP - Who is your provider? What package do you have? What speeds do you receive? Have you tried comparing a wired connection against WiFi to see if it’s your ISP’s issue or an internal issue with your wireless network?
Neddlings55@reddit
Rural Surrey and pretty good. With BT and i use ethernet.
Mobile phone signal however is non existent.
vaskemaskine@reddit
5Gbps/5Gbps. Rock solid. SW London.

I'm also in cheshire and mine is fine. More or less as good as it was as when i lived in central manchester for university. I'm with talktalk
muttley_87@reddit
South Yorkshire EE full fibre 1.6GBPS, can't really complain, the router and WiFi extender work fine. Barely any downtime.
PKblaze@reddit
Used to be terrible but the city eventually modernised around 2018 and everyone has fibre so it's good. Rarely any issues and no complaints.
JonJo42@reddit
Constantly getting 312Mb/s on Sky Full Fibre 300 in Cambridge via the CityFibre network. Streaming and downloading excellent with three users.
Master-Leopard-7830@reddit
Mine's great and has been for years. Virgin fibre. I've only had maybe two issues in 15+ years and they sorted it quickly.
I don't have much option to change provider as it means going through the phone line and losing bandwidth.
