Looks great I was shocked not to see a V8 under the hood like an LS but I guess you're in the UK so probably can't really have all that.
doubleshottt88@reddit (OP)
I am in the UK and we can have LS's my buddy is putting one in an Aston vantage. There just not the same bang for buck here. There quite a few Fury's with the 'rover V8' which is an all alloy small block sourced from Buick originally. There 3.5 to 5 liters. Depending on variant. It's kinda out answer to an ls as it was found in everything from land rovers, some trucks, saloons and sports cars.
The ls wouldn't be a bad shout however honestly don't think you would ever get the power down. My target is sub 600kg (1320lb) anything with torque will be a handful. Alot of Fury's use motorbike engines and can normally be sub 450kg (990lb) . But there not so fun on a trip. I put a bike engine in the back of a classic mini and that would cruise at 9.5k rpm . I actually used my last fury and will this one for longer trips. I normally drive to the track as it slows me down in track. And I'll be driving this one to lots of European tracks.
Honda's with a there famous low torque are well suited to this as it should be really drivable and progressive. Should cruise at 4k by my maths
ravage214@reddit
Lol I was joking, appreciate the perspective though.
In all seriousness the Honda motor is the right choice for something that light and RWD if you want to put the the power down and keep it as light as possible.

My bad π I'm Abit if a nerd ππ

whatta rocket!
doubleshottt88@reddit (OP)
Target is sub 600kg and 240bhp ( it's an f20c )
who_even_cares35@reddit
I always wonder why the f20 doesn't get much love. I put 186k miles on a s2000 of absolute torture and it loved every rpm.
doubleshottt88@reddit (OP)
They crazy money , I got a steal on this one but there kinda limited supply as only coming out of crashed or rotten s2ks
Melodic-Ad1415@reddit
I had to google that, lol, how accurate is what it said βA vehicle with a weight of 600 kg and an engine output of 240 bhp has a power-to-weight ratio of 400 bhp per tonne
For reference, this level of performance exceeds that of many modern high-performance sports cars, such as the 2024 BMW M4 CS (299 bhp/ton) or the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 (364 bhp/ton).β
doubleshottt88@reddit (OP)
My last one was 130bhp and 590kg it was no slouch but, it was lacking in the straights especially higher speeds. Makes passing on trackdays difficult as you need to be let by. Hope won't have this issue with the new one
cold-banana@reddit
What is the body based on?
doubleshottt88@reddit (OP)
As organicsig said it's a kit car. This one is actually a fisher fury however he was close they started life as sylva Fury's , the was also the phoenix (very similar) and the 'gt' version was the stylus.
As you can see it's a tubular chassis with the grp body. It's designed around for MK1/2 escort running gear. The live axle , engine ,gearbox steering rack and brakes are all used. How ever this car is not heavily modified to fit the f20c the only escort parts are rear axle and steering rack. I'm using escort fitment brakes on the front but wilwood 4 pots. And I've converted the rear to sierra coswoth discs (escorts had drums)
There was an independent rear suspension variant using ford sierra parts. But there so light with so little suspension travel there isn't that much to be gained from it.
If you're interested I do have an actual build thread

The only problem with these escort based kits cars is the ludicrous price of escort parts these days!
The vintage rally crowd has wrapped too many of them around trees in Welsh forests!
doubleshottt88@reddit (OP)
True most the kits them became sierra based and now there Mx5 based.
The fury is old hat now you can supposedly still buy a new kit however I wouldnt trust them to actually deliver now which is a shame.
I was planning to put the f20 iny old car but then this unfinished kit came up at a very very nice price. So changed plans and started from scratch which I think in alot of way has made it better. It's definitely the most overkill complex fury I've seen yet π. Full ECU master setup running can bus. Should have cruise control once setup and in the future I planning on traction control.
OrganicSig@reddit
Itβs a kit. I think there have been 3 or 4 in the same line with similar bodies. If OP doesnβt respond, I think it is a Silva, but is at least one of that line. Looked into it as an alternative for a Locost, but shipping from England and windshield regs made me reconsider.
schizoferret904@reddit
What is it? Chevy cheetah kit car?
doubleshottt88@reddit (OP)
It's a fisher fury, with there later 'lemans' bonnet . Not a as pretty as the original but it gives more clearance.
It's tiny. Hopefully sub 600kg.
Here's my last one
theArtOfProgramming@reddit
These are works of art. Absolutely stunning.
Wiggles69@reddit
I thought it looked familiar!
I raced against one in a hillclimb last week, it had a 1ZZ under the bonnet (of all things). Great looking car.
"A lotus 7 in an evening dress" was how the owner described it :p
doubleshottt88@reddit (OP)
That's one way to put it π€£. Not seen one with a 1zz in. Be interested to see that. Theres one for sale with a built 4age in and it looks mega.
Jean_le_Jedi_Gris@reddit
I am constantly amazed at how people in this sub seemingly just wake up one day and decide to build a car from basically scratch.
masterventris@reddit
These square tube chassis cars are pretty easy to make if you can weld!
And you would be surprised how many parts from different manufacturers work together for the complex stuff. For example I am using Miata hubs with BMW 7-series tie rod ends, as they use the same taper.
doubleshottt88@reddit (OP)
First build from scratch, but I've rebuilt and modified multiple cars in the past. Pretty much all self taught.
Everything on this car is pretty much custom there aren't really any parts for it save a few classic ford parts. The full build is documented here.

Do you have equal length double wishbone?
doubleshottt88@reddit (OP)
No the top ones are shorter . Not buy much thos as there's very little travel.
doubleshottt88@reddit (OP)
My target is sub 600kg and 240bhp.
The full build thread is over on pistonheads
