Do they suck? I see there ads all the time at truck stops
zdw0986@reddit
Yeah they’re terrible. I had to fire them and just go deal with the ticket myself. They’re more worried about trying to upsell and sign you up for their bullshit fuel cards and other shit than actually fighting your ticket.
TonyTrucking@reddit
How do you cancel your TVC membership?
SchityCityGangBang@reddit
Hmm so what you’re saying is…… finding legal help off an advert in a truckstop restroom is not the best strategy. That’s a red hot take if I’ve ever heard one.
Stoppete@reddit
I got used by them… once. They couldn’t find a lawyer to take my case, simple speeding ticket… So you pay for the service, and then don’t get the service. It’s a scam.
Frogspoison@reddit
Basically, they just give your case to an "affiliated" lawyer in the area who tends to do a half-ass job.
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
Damn that sucks. Are there any lawyers that sctually defend truckersnor are we all sol?
Alaskan_Tiger@reddit
I had to call 4 layers in Jax Florida
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
Damn. Sounds like a headache.
Socketz11@reddit
Actually dont mention you have a CDL, it does nothing to help your case and just makes the lawyer charge you more
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
This is a good idea, thanks. Didn't even think about that
Frogspoison@reddit
There are you just gotta look em up
NFLTG_71@reddit
And you still wind up having to pay for that second attorney
Socketz11@reddit
They are awful. Look up 'traffic attorneys' in whatever county you got the ticket, read the reviews, pay around $250. Its that simple. Reviews tell all with these guys.
Fancy_Chip_5620@reddit
I have been able to find anyone cheaper than $1,500
TheRake1087@reddit
Ain’t no way i got a ticket and first guy i quoted was 500 bucks
Fancy_Chip_5620@reddit
Where at
TheRake1087@reddit
The law offices of zev goldstein however the ticket i got was in New York and he is a New York lawyer so he might not be able to help you out
Socketz11@reddit
DUI? Accident? $1500 is extremely high for a ticket.
Fancy_Chip_5620@reddit
Nope just a standard issue speeding ticket, everyone around me (south texas) charges more for cdl holders... ends up being $1500
I will try again to find someone cheaper
The first time I used one was some legal group from upstate that just had a smaller lawyer local to me handle the ticket
It's honestly moderately difficult to find a lawyer that does anything other than accident injury nowadays
Socketz11@reddit
First off, dont mention you have a CDL, it just makes the lawyer charge you more and it does nothing to help your case. Thats probably one reason. I call all the guys with great reviews and cost is the first thing I ask. I have paid $100 for a seat belt + court costs in Texas, Laredo to be exact. And $350+court costs for a speeding ticket in NC.
Alaskan_Tiger@reddit
I paid 1,500 and got it back hired my own lawyer cops fault why i DIDN'T have to pay
Ornery_Ads@reddit
Some attorneys charge per appearance (most of the $250 guys), others charge flat rate (some include trial, some exclude it).
There are also other attorneys that are desperate for any clients, so they'll be far cheaper than anyone else, but often far less experienced.
There are even some attorneys that have mastered playing scheduling games, so they'll have 25 cases all scheduled for the same day so they can really get their bang for the buck with an appearance. Many of those guys are fairly cheap and flat rate...because they were already going to court that day anyway.
The entire point is to make it not worth it for you to fight the ticket.
Heres an example: https://www.reddit.com/r/IdiotsInCars/s/584bgJvF5Q
"Obstructing the passage of other vehicles." That was multiple Zoom hearings that each took hours, multiple calls that were over an hour, multiple snail mail letters going back and forth, providing the state with discovery, begging for discovery from the state and getting nothing, then trial was scheduled 3 times. First one no cop, second one no cop or prosecutor, and finally I got my trial on the third time. Not guilty.
So, $400+ in hotel stays, over 1,000 miles on my car driving down there over and over, 6+ days of work missed, having to waste ~6 hours in the middle of a day while I was on vacation dealing with it, and having the case hanging over my head for a year...as to fight a $55 citation...and I did nothing wrong.
Own-Plantain6148@reddit
It's $10 a week x 52 weeks a year = $520 a year. It was 5 years until I got my first ticket I needed a lawyer for. Just hire a lawyer for each individual ticket.
DonMarce@reddit
Yup
National-Answer-9792@reddit
Used to be a great trucker law office out of okc, but i can't remember the name. They never lost a case for me $300. per case.
National-Answer-9792@reddit
TVC wanted to help me with my last ticket. $1,800 to start ,but if it had to go to trial $2,500. At least. I went by myself and what should've been simple to throw out, I ended up stuck with the ticket.
Unfair_Fisherman_605@reddit
Yes TVC Sucks Monkey Nuts. I have used them before and definitely was not happy with them.
DaRealMexicanTrucker@reddit
I just use Ticket Clinic.
Northeastyungin@reddit
I used them for a ticket I caught in Cali. It was a speeding ticket and they got the point off my CDL and I didn’t have to pay nothing on my ticket
nicerakk@reddit
They worked for me
Capt_Cyral@reddit
Nope... your paying these people to find you an attorney in the region you got your ticket in... and you still have 2 pay that attorney for his time and court fees.
WubbaWubbaBoingBoing@reddit
they used to be good when they first came out, i used to use them and they got me out of allot of tickets. but i havent been in the business for years after i retired. so of late i see allot of complaints about them and the cost. the lawyers they would use would contact you and ask what happened and then you would be notified how the case would go. i never paid more than 200 bucks for a case. now i hear and see so many tails of woe about them i would be leery of them now. its kinda like how AAA used to be good now its a joke.
Israel_the_P@reddit
They helped me a couple times… just stay away from the traffic billboard attorneys
NFLTG_71@reddit
You’re basically paying for a referral service with those people
Safe_Fail_568@reddit
They used to be good years ago, I’ve successfully used them before but like I said that was almost 10 years ago
Responsible-Sail-701@reddit
I pay about 6 dollars a week for them through my company. But I use this company called Off The Record, they are pretty good.
Fancy_Chip_5620@reddit
They dont cover South Texas sadly or else I'd have used them
Responsible-Sail-701@reddit
Oh okay.
Lopsided-Original865@reddit
They did fuck all for me
deezkeys098@reddit
This is just for inexperienced truckers. If you ever get a ticket you need to hire a traffic lawyer in the city the ticket says to appear in. That’s why I keep 2500$ in an account I never use in case I ever have to hire a lawyer. Last one I hired cost me 700$ and I had to “donate” 200$ to a charity for the court fee. Got a 15+mph speeding ticket dismissed
